XMas Bonus - How to Get Phil’s Stock World for Free!

As many of you already know, PSW will no longer be available entirely free after Jan 20th.

We’ve always had the members section where we have extensive picks, various portfolios and a chat section where members exchange stock ideas all day but that’s a limited membership and we simply don’t have room for everyone.

In order to expand further, enhance our offerings and take on additional, quality writers, PSW will begin charging a monthly fee for full access to the site.  There will still be a limited amount of free content but the bulk of my articles as well as selected others will require membership to access.  The good news about this is that, by limiting access, we can go back to making more picks available - the problem with free picks has been that, as our readership has expanded to many thousands a day, we are getting shut out of our own selections when I make them public!

We will also be able to make selected portfolios available "a la carte," so to speak.  While the Short-Term Portfolio and Long-Term will remain exclusive to premium members, regular subscribers will be able to add subscriptions to the $10K Portfolio or $25K Portfolio as well as select quarterly portfolios and we anticipate having an EMail alert system up and running sometime next quarter - something many of you have been requesting.  Pricing on this has yet to be set on portfolio access but probably about the same as the base membership for each portfolio.

Additionally, our new subscribers will be given access to selected comments from the Premium member site.  Although you won’t have live access, if you browse through the past two week’s of posts on the free site you’ll see the system we’re testing carries many excellent trade ideas that are not very time-sensitive.  I often tell new members, one of the best trades to take are the ones that went the wrong way on us but we are sticking with - you’re getting into a position we still like for less money than we did!

Premium Membership gives you access to all portfolios full chat access where I’m on-line most days responding directly to member questions as well as special education and strategy sections and exclusive "members only" articles.  While those memberships currently run $149/month, $399/quarter and $1,299/year, our 1-year anniversary gift to members is a 10% discount on renewals in their second year of service.  Each year after, they will get another 10% off up to 35% off, no matter what the fee is.

Premium Members will additionally be able to participate in the referral program that will be outlined below.

Regular subscribers will have the new subscriber access I just mentioned at a rate of $39/month, $99/qtr and $299/year.  As a special thank-you to my existing Feedburner subscribers, we will be offering a 25% discount off those rates when we begin accepting subscriptions, around Jan 15th through the end of January.  To be clear, these discounts are one-time and will apply to the first month, year or quarter you sign up for.  The code for this discount is PSWINTRO and this post will be deleted in the near future as it is only for current subscribers so make sure you write it down!

Now for the fun part - here’s how you don’t have to pay at all, whether you are a regular member or a Premium Subscriber -  We will be giving additional credits for active referrals.  That is to say, any referral that is still active at the end of any billing period will be credited to your account.

  • Each Premium Referral will earn you a 10% discount off of any PSW subscription.  10 referrals = a free membership and this discount will "stack" with members existing annual discounts.
  • Each Regular Subscription referral will earn you a 2% discount. 50 referrals = a free membership, also stacked.  All of these referral discounts can be mixed and matched.
  • A Feedburner referral will earn you a 0.33% discount.  300 referrals = a free membership, just 100 referrals = a 33% discount!  While this sounds crazy it works for us because we do get advertising revenue from Feedburner and opt-in advertising is one of the best paying models on the web.  Also we find that an average of 1% of our free readers signs up for a subscription each month so it makes sense for us to expand our free subscriber base now that we have a way of accepting more members.

All you do to set up a new Feedburner account is click HERE.  The URL you can mail to your friends is: http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailverifySubmit?feedId=614817  - they must acively accept the membership so please do not spam names or you will be disqualified!  The only catch is that we have not yet worked out a good tracking system as this is all in Beta so it is up to you to tell us who you are referring in (yes all 300 people in an XLS format!).  If you send us a list of the name of the person and their Email address, as soon as we verify it with Feedburner we will arrange a credit as long as they remain active (any disputed credit of referrals will be settled, appropriately by the referee).  Credit levels will be adjusted no more than quarterly but that’s all we can promise until it’s automated.  Obviously, with regular and premium memberships we will have an easier time verifying and tracking.  Please note that this is an experiment and we may discontinue the program on a go-forward basis at any time but we will always continue to honor all credits earned while it’s active (subject to normal rules of membership of course).

I want to thank all of you for being here in what has been a truly thrilling first year for our site.  We are proud of what we’ve already accomplished and even more excited about what lies ahead.  We have exciting new alliances and new services on tap for 2008 but I’m not going to spoil the surprises by revealing them now, like any good present - it’s more fun to anticipate.  Anyway, I don’t want to distract from the main purpose here which is to thank all of you who’ve been with us at the beginning - it’s been a thrilling project to work on and I’m as excited about the next 12 months as I have been about these first 12 - for a jaded businessman, that’s really saying something!

I’m excited to get up for work every day and I can’t wait to talk to the members, who are a brilliant group of investors, making our comment section one of the best reads on the web and by far the best chat I’ve ever visited.  As can be attested by the 160 comments we had on Christmas Eve, I’m not the only one who feels that way!

So happy holidays to all my readers, 2007 was an epic year and it looks like we’re going to crank up the roller coaster for an exciting 2008 - thanks for being here with us!

- Phil
