“Straight Offa Wall Street Debuts Atop Billboard Charts”
Forget Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. Those crazy financial gangsta rappers are at it again. After privatizing their gains while handing their losses to us, N.W.A. (Nationalizerz with Attitudes) shares the homemade tunes which served as anthems during their reign.
The crew — (clockwise) Tim Geithner, Stan O’Neal, Johnny Thain, Dick Fuld, Hank Paulson, and Joe Cassano — truly brought their best stuff in this freshman effort. The opening song and instant classic “Straight Offa Wall Street” was infamously heard echoing down Upper East Side streets as several black bulletproof GMC Yukon Denali XLs cruised the early morning hours in 2006-07.
Another instant classic, “F*$! the SEC” drops additional authoritative tones, “F*$kin’ with me and my hot young secretary/Cause I got a golden parachute and the newest f*$kin Blackberry.” But my favorite clip on the album is “Debtman [Modern Slavery Remix]“. The verses flow like bailout dollars, “Livin’ in Manhattan, N-Y-C, N-Y/This uzi up your ass if you ask me why/Debtor beggin for credit, we’re knockin’ out teeth/Clockin’ our dollars on the first and fifteenth.”
I know it’s hard to support a product by a bunch of legal gangsters who pulled off the greatest heist in human history. However, if you don’t want to layout the cash, you can get a free copy next time you refi any hard asset at your local bank supported by the Homeowners’ Assistance Program. Apparently, the participating banks went ahead and bought enough copies to move the album to the top of the Billboard charts. And why not. It’s not their money.
If you can’t wait for mortgage rates to get further manipulated to record lows, you can download some singles off the playlist now:
