Howling Mad Murdoch Says Sunday Sun Coming Soon

Rupert Murdoch told News International journalists on Friday that he is expecting to launch a “Sunday Sun” very soon.

The disgraced News Corporation (NASDAQ: NWSA) chief executive was forced to fold the News of the World newspaper, which effectively was a Sunday Sun, following the “phone hacking” scandal last year. Since then, News Corp has had to pay out millions in compensation to celebrities who had been wronged by News of the World journalists.

The Sun, which runs Monday-Saturday in the UK, is no stranger to scandal itself, and critics believes that a Sunday Sun would be the same thing as the News of the World. Murdoch, for his part, is supporting his staff to the bitter end.

“We’re doing everything we can to assist those who are arrested,” he said in a statement. “All suspensions are hereby lifted until or whether charged and they are welcome to return to work. Everyone is innocent until proven otherwise.”

Murdoch is a notorious narcissist though, and a skilled self-promoter, so whether a Sunday Sun ever actually happens remains to be seen.
