Phil!  Been keeping track of you guys from points far away….great stuff here on PSW and commentary too funny more than half the time.  So the west coast ports YOY are looing good.  But on closer review with 2009 crash in tonnage as a base….its just creeping along.  Nothing bad nothing to write home about as regards overall tonnage imports and exports.  The port authorities once again tell us the second half of this year we will see cargo numbers pick up significantly.  But they have predicted that for the last 7 years to no avail.  The news that is notable (and will not surprise you) is our colleagues in the Port of Rotterdam are seeing a significant slow down in over all tonnage for the first time in many years.  Rotterdam is the perennial power house of world port operations.  They seemed impervious to economic slow downs in the past.  This sow down will not show up in the "news" until after the third quarter numbers are on the books for the whole world to see.  But we get it first here.  For what it s worth…..just another piece of the puzzle but perhaps a 20% piece of the puzzle as Europe accounts for a decent portion of our economy.
