craig, i beg to differ….it is not the simplicity of the math that makes us "assume".  no, we deduce based on the physics about gravitational attraction between bodies with mass.  there is a center of mass for any group of bodies around which bodies revolve if they are in motion.   in the case of the solar system, it is the sun although not the precise center of the sun.  it also just happens to "make sense" to have the sun with it's relatively large mass be the center of the solar system…it is a more unique description than having the sun go around any one of the planets, or their moons, or any random particle of dust.  then, as we pan back and consider additional stars and galaxies and clusters of galaxies we see that the center of mass is different for each grouping.

but more importantly, how to take advantage of any pop that might happen in the momos.  as phil says, not much of trend down so far–just a minor pullback.  or is it too dangerous?
