Shadow – There are a lot of docs out there practicing pain who have no idea what they're doing and have no business performing these procedures. On the other hand, some patients have exceptionally challenging cases and you have to try procedures hoping something might work for reasons you can't completely understand, because there are no obvious alternatives. There is, however, no justification for repeating the same thing over and over if it's not working, that's just BS and the mark of a weak doc or sheister. We get paid about $6-700 for the radiofrequency ablation procedure you refer to, and it should work for 6 months-2 years when properly performed in a good candidate. Sloppy work gets sloppy results. When I do the procedure it usually works very well, many patients having complete pain relief for years. Spinal cord stimulators just took a big hit from medicare as well. Too bad because, again, in good candidates this is a life changing procedure. It sounds like wherever you have been seeking treatment is more of a mill than a medical practice. I'm sorry to hear that. We treat our patients honestly and fairly here, but I know that's not how it is everywhere. Every day I hear from patients how they enjoy that I take the time and interest to solve their problems in an honest fashion. It's a rewarding career, but CMS is doing everything possible to ruin that and push me into business instead. Why do you think I'm back here?
