Analysts at JP Morgan on Friday suggested that Apple Inc.'s (NASDAQ: AAPL) upcoming Watch may have battery issues.
According to the analysts, the company initially expected its Apple Watch device to provide roughly one full day of usage, which includes roughly 2.5 to four hours of active application use along with 19 hours of combined active/passive use. The Watch was supposed to have a three-day standby capability, or four days left in a sleep mode.
The analysts are now stating that the device is only likely to achieve approximately two to three days in either the standby or lower-power mode.
“Having worn multiple smart watches now for over a year, we see battery life as the number one feature for a wearable,” the analysts wrote. “In our opinion, the battery must last all day easily for Apple to realize good product adoption next year.”
The analysts add that a battery failure on a watch is a “much bigger problem than on a phone” as users “look ridiculous with a dead piece of tech” attached to their wrist.
However, the analysts do note that other experts they have talked to believe that Apple's Watch can “easily” hit three to four days of standby time with well over a day of mixed use.
