From Reuters:
Israeli military aircraft came under anti-aircraft fire over Lebanon on Tuesday but there were no casualties, an Israeli security source said.
The source said the fire was aimed at Israeli planes on reconnaissance flights over southern Lebanon. An Israeli military spokesman had no immediate comment.
Tension has risen in the region since nine people were killed aboard a Turkish-backed aid ship heading for the Gaza Strip when Israeli commandos seized the vessel in Mediterranean waters on Monday.
For those who wonder why this is news, here is Bloomberg providing the explanation: “U.S. stocks fell, adding to losses from the Dow Jones Industrial Average’s worst May since 1940, as BP Plc’s failure to plug a leaking oil well dragged down energy producers and a report said Lebanon fired on Israeli warplanes.” So now you know: geopolitics <-> markets and vice versa.
