Hearing Sears Holdings Takeover Offer of $90 Per Share
The Rumor:
Sears Holdings (NASDAQ: SHLD) is to receive a $90 per share offer for a buyout of the company, according to sources. The rumor is that Sears shopping of its Lands’ End division has led to an offer for the entire company. Chairman Eddie Lampert has been rumored for the past several months to be taking the company private.
A spokesperson for Sears Holdings was not available for comment.
Sears Holdings closed at $53.12 Friday, a loss of 4.56% on average volume.
Hearing Renewed Takeover Chatter in Cobalt International Energy
The Rumor:
Cobalt International Energy (NYSE: CIE) was the subject of renewed takeover chatter on Friday, according to sources. Earlier this month, Exxon Mobil (NYSE: XOM) and Royal Dutch Shell (NYSE: RDS.A) were rumored to be possible buyers at $50 to $60 per share.
A spokesperson for Cobalt International Energy was not available for comment.
Cobalt International Energy closed at $26.80 Friday, a loss of 0.26% on half the average daily volume.
