Asustek Computer Inc (OTC: ASUUY) reported a 46% rise in its first-quarter net profit.
Asustek’s quarterly net profit climbed to NT$5.01 billion, from NT$3.42 billion in the year-ago period. However, analysts were expecting a net profit of NT$3.86 billion. Its revenue surged 23% to NT$90.91 billion from NT$73.91 billion.
Asustek projects Q2 shipments of notebook PCs to surge to 4.4 million, from 3.1 million in the year-ago quarter. It also expects tablet PC shipments to climb to 1.2 million, from 400,000 in the year-ago period.
