Analysts Still Think iTV is Coming

Earlier today, JP Morgan’s research arm released a report outlining the prospects for an Apple TV. According to the analyst, Mark Moskowitz, consumers and investors alike shouldn’t hold their breath, as any full-blown TV would be at least two years away.

This has lead some to doubt the prospect, questioning the possibility that a TV would even be released. After all, according to some rumors, Apple should have released their TV months ago.

Benzinga spoke to a couple analysts who continue to believe that a TV would be forthcoming.

Scott Sutherland of Wedbush stated that he had heard too much to dismiss an Apple TV. While he was unsure of the release date, he stated that a TV remains in the works, and that it would be unlikely that Apple would abandon the project.

Michael Walkley of Canaccord echoed these statements, agreeing that the TV was in production. Still, he believed that it would be released in calendar year 2013, and not later this fall.

Yet, if Apple continues to delay, will it be left in the dust?

Apple’s (arguably) primary competitor Samsung released its own smart TV earlier this year. While the product has received little fanfare when compared to some of Apple’s products, it boasts many features that the rumored Apple TV was purported to have–such as voice control and some form of a mobile operating system.

Shares of Apple are currently trading down just slightly on the session near $580.
