Southwestern Energy Company (NYSE: SWN) revealed its Board plans to elect its independent director, Catherine Kehr, as the Chairperson of the Board following its annual meeting of shareholders on May 17.

According to the company, Kehr has served as a director since 2011, as well as, as Presiding Director since 2014, as chairman of the Board’s Nominating and Governance Committee apart from its Audit Committee. She would succeed Steve Mueller, who would retire as a director at the May annual meeting as indicated previously.

Southwestern Energy’s President and CEO, Bill Way, commented that “Cathy’s insights as a former portfolio manager for a major investment firm, her broad experience in energy and financial markets, and her leadership and dedication to Southwestern Energy demonstrated in her years on our Board position her well to lead our Board. I look forward to working closely with Cathy to enhance value for our shareholders.”

In the pre-market trading on Monday, the stock traded 2.28 percent down.
