Watch Live: Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party Holds Campaign Launch

Update (7 am ET): In his campaign launch speech, Nigel Farage came out the gate storming, saying there has been a 'breakdown of trust and faith', and pointing to the fact that Johnson failed to keep his promise to get the UK out of the EU by Oct. 31

However, instead of turning his back on Johnson and risk splitting the vote, Farage revealed that the Brexit Party will focus on Labour-held seats in districts that voted to leave during the referendum, as expected. With recent polls showing Conservatives with 40% of support, it still looks like the Tories set to win a large plurality in December.

Later, Farage added that he would be willing to compromise his position and form a "Leave Alliance" with the Tories, seeing as he suspects Labour would work to reverse the Brexit vote. If Johnson doesn't accept Farage's offer for the conditional alliance, he warned that the Brexit Party would follow through with an alternative plan to contest every seat. Farage says there are more than 500 candidates ready and willing to stand for the party. Farage will give the Tories and Johnson until Nov. 14 to decide whether or not they wish to pursue the alliance.

For a one-issue party that isn't even one-year-old yet, the Brexit Party is having an outsize impact, polling alongside established parties, and now emerging as a critical powerbroker.

Nigel Farage's Brexit Party emerged as the star of the spring's EU Parliament vote. And now that a general election is a certainty, the Brexit Party is launching its campaign with much fanfare, but little information about how many candidates it will field.

That's critically important: Late last month, reports emerged claiming that Farage would throw Boris Johnson, his ally from the Leave campaign, a bone by pulling candidates in hundreds of Tory districts who would risk splitting the vote and elevating Jeremy Corbyn to No. 10. Downing Street.

The campaign launch comes one day after the "do or die" Brexit deadline of Oct. 31, which Farage had earlier mocked.

Reporters will be watching to see if Farage does strike a deal with Johnson, or if the Brexit Party goes up against the Tories in hundreds of districts across the country.
