What kind of an embarrasment is this?
I spoke about this chart in Monday's post and it really hits home, we've been underperforming the global economy by 50% of more overall ever since the start of the Iraq war. Doesn't that tell you something? This country is on a disastrous economic course and "staying it" is not the clearest path to prosperity but the clearest path to becomming a third world nation. That would be fine with the power elite, they love taking control of banana republics, confiscating land (like property they foreclose on) and industry (like FRE/FNM and other financials, then manufacturers who go bust..) and rewriting the constitution to keep themselves in power (already in progress).
I don't understand how anybody can support this crap, clearly we are FAILING as an economy. The growth we've experienced may seem not too bad in this little vacuum we've been placed in but when you take a step back and look what the rest of the world is accomplishing, our performance is just sad…
Now that Bush's pal Musharraf is out of office, Pakistan is finally banning the Taliban, who have previously been "harbored" under Musharraf's administration. "This organization is a terrorist organization and created mayhem against the public life, so we decided to declare it banned," Mr. Malik said. "Anyone having link with this organization, promoting its literature and message, helping it financially or in any other way will be taken to task according to the law." Bush fans should bear this in mind when you see the Prez talking tough on terror while making alliances with people who harbor them, perhaps this ridiculous, hypocritical mixed message sent out by the administration is one of the reasons we are seen as a joke on the international stage. You can only say one thing and do another for so long before you look foolish but there are people who will comment right on this post supporting this crap because they would rather blindly swallow whatever BS the government serves up than question their own beliefs.
