Thursday’s Earnings Round-Up (DVA, AMAT, JWN, SPWR, ARUN, BIDU, FTR)

A number of prominent companies released their quarterly earnings reports after the closing bell on Thursday. Below, Benzinga highlights notable results and how those stocks are faring in the after hours trading session.

DaVita (NYSE: DVA)

The company reported Q4 adjusted EPS of $1.58 versus Wall Street analysts’ consensus EPS estimates of $1.48.

Revenues for the quarter came in at $1.86 billion compared to Street estimates of $1.85 billion. Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK.B) bought shares in DaVita (DVA) last quarter.

Nordstrom (NYSE: JWN)

The company reported Q4 EPS of $1.11 versus Street consensus EPS estimates of $1.10.

Revenues for the quarter came in at $3.17 billion compared to Street expectations of $3.18 billion.

Looking ahead to fiscal 2012, Nordstrom sees EPS between $3.30 and $3.45, versus Street estimates of $3.13.

In Thursday’s after hours trading session, JWN shares have lost 2.43% to $50.91 immediately following the report.

SunPower (NASDAQ:SPWR)

The company reported Q4 EPS of $0.16 although it may not compare to Street estimates calling for a loss of $0.05.

Revenues for the quarter were $749 million, which was way ahead of Street estimates of $669 million.

Looking ahead, SPWR sees Q1 revenue in a range between $500 and $575 million, which compares to current Street estimates of $569.4 million.

First-quarter EPS is expected in a range between a loss of $0.05 and a loss of $0.20. Wall Street analysts are currently projecting that SPWR will report a per share loss of $0.12 in the first quarter.

In Thursday’s after hours trading session, SPWR shares have jumped more than 17% to $8.79 on the back of the strong results.

Applied Materials (NASDAQ: AMAT)

The company reported Q1 earnings per share of $0.18, which came in well ahead of Street consensus EPS estimates of $0.12.

Revenues for the quarter were $2.19 billion versus estimates of $1.97 billion.

In Thursday’s after hours tradings session, AMAT shares have jumped nearly 6% on the strong results to $13.93.

Frontier Communications (NASDAQ: FTR)

The company reported net income attributable to common shareholders of $42.2 million or $0.04 per share, compared to $46.0 million or $0.05 per share, in the year ago quarter.

On an adjusted basis, which is comparable to analysts’ consensus, Frontier reported net income attributable to common shareholders of $69.0 million or $0.07 per share. This compared to Wall Street analysts consensus EPS estimates of $0.05.

Revenues for the quarter were $1.28 billion versus $1.36 billion in last year’s fourth quarter. This came in slightly ahead of Street estimates of $1.27 billion.

In addition, FTR announced it was cutting its quarterly dividend to $0.10 from $0.19.

Chief Executive Maggie Wilderotter said, “Frontier’s Board of Directors also made the decision to lower the quarterly dividend to $0.10 per share. This will enable Frontier to reduce debt, improve our leverage, have ample cash to invest in the network and other strategic initiatives, and to provide a more sustainable shareholder return through a lower dividend payout ratio.”

In Thursday’s after hours trading session, FTR shares were last trading down 5.61% to $4.21 after being down as much as 10% immediately following the report.

Baidu.com (NASDAQ: BIDU)

The Beijing-based company reported earnings per share of $0.95 for Q4, which beat analysts’ consensus EPS estimates of $0.91.

Revenues for the quarter were $710.90 million versus consensus estimates of $700.75 million. Looking ahead to Q1, BIDU sees revenue in a range between $666.5 million and $688 million, versus current Street consensus revenue estimates of $672.1 million.

In Thursday’s after hours trading session, BIDU shares are trading near the flat line after initially falling in the wake of the Q4 report.

Aruba Networks (NASDAQ: ARUN)

Aruba reported fiscal Q2 earnings per share of $0.16 versus consensus EPS estimates of $0.15.

Revenues for the quarter came in at $126.30 million versus Street consensus revenue estimates of $125.19 million.

In Thursday’s after hours trading session, ARUN shares have lost 2.64% to $24.00.
