Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) is reportedly working with Dutch NXP Semiconductors (NASDAQ: NXPI) to enable pay-by-touch capabilities in the new iPhone 6, according to Financial Times/ According to sources, NXP will provide the secure near-field communications chips to enable the iPhone to connect with payment terminals and ticketing systems.
The iPhone 6 is expected to be announced at the September 9 event announced by Apple on Thursday.
