Perfect World Co. Options Active As Shares Drop

Today’s tickers: PWRD, HAR & AVL

PWRD - Perfect World Co., Ltd. – Options on Perfect World Co., Ltd. are more active than usual today with shares in China’s largest online game developer and operator down 27.0% at $8.77 this afternoon. The stock plunged after a report posted on Chinese blog Tianya alleged the Company is being investigated by Chinese and U.S. regulators. Short notes out on Bloomberg this morning suggest the report has been removed from the blog and that Perfect World has since denied the allegations. Options players snapped up both call and put options in the front month to prepare for either a rebound in the price of the underlying or further declines in the next two weeks. Investors bracing for further bearish movement in the shares purchased in- and out-of-the-money puts. Volume is heaviest at the Jan. $11 strike where some 2,415 deep in-the-money puts changed hands against open interest of 441 contracts. It looks like trader purchased the majority of these puts for an average premium of $0.58 a-pop. The Jan. $9.0 and $10 strike puts also drew buyers, and appear to have been purchased more than 1,000 times each at average premiums of $0.43 and $0.54, respectively. Finally, the Jan. $8.0 strike puts changed hands more than 500 times against open interest of just 52 contracts today. Investors purchased most of the volume, paying an average premium of $0.26 each. Put buyers targeting the $8.0 strike contracts may profit at expiration if shares in PWRD drop 11.7% from the current price of $8.77 to breach the average breakeven point on the downside at $7.74. Meanwhile, traders prepared to see the stock rebound picked up more than 1,350 calls at the Jan. $10 strike for an average premium of $0.51 per contract. Profits may be available to call buyers at expiration day if shares in the game developer rally 20.0% to top $10.51. Overall options volume on the name is greater than 12,400…

Options Players Flock to Wynn Resorts

Today’s tickers: WYNN, AVL, LLTC & GM

WYNN - Wynn Resorts, Ltd. – Options traders are placing bullish bets on the casino resort operator this morning with shares in Wynn Resorts surging 6.6% to an intraday- and more than three-year high of $135.59. Shares in the Las Vegas, NV-based company, which operates Wynn Macau in China, rallied sharply after casino revenue in Macau jumped 48% over the previous year, topping $2.5 billion in March. Options investors flocked to Wynn Resorts, as well as other casino resort operators with ties to Macau, right out of the gate this morning. Near-term bulls are dominating activity in Wynn’s options in the first half of the session, exchanging roughly 2.8 calls on the stock for each single put option. April contract calls are most active just before 12:00pm in New York, with overall options volume nearing 29,000 contracts against total open interest on WYNN of 140,493 contracts. Some bullish players picked up in-the-money call options, buying more than 1,100 calls at the April $130 strike for an average premium of $4.99 each, and purchasing some 1,400 call options at the April $135 strike at an average premium of $2.31 apiece. Near-term optimism spread to the higher April $140 strike where another 1,375 calls were scooped up for an average premium of $0.99 a-pop. Investors long the April $140 strike calls make money in the event that the casino operator’s shares rally another 4.0% over today’s high of $135.59 to surpass the average breakeven price of $140.99 by April expiration day. Finally, more than 1,800 call options changed hands up at the April $145 strike on open interest of just 256 contracts in the first half of the session. It looks like the vast majority of these calls were purchased at an average premium of $0.48 each. Call buyers at this strike profit in the event that WYNN’s shares jump 7.3% to exceed $145.58 at expiration. Wynn Resorts, Ltd. is scheduled to report first-quarter earnings after the closing bell on April 28, 2011, well past the expiration on April contract options.…

Will Junk Bonds Continue To Send A Positive Message To Stocks?

Courtesy of Chris Kimble

If the saying “So goes Junk Bonds, So goes stocks” is true, what Junk bonds do in the next couple of weeks could send an important message to stocks!

Junk bond ETF (JNK) has created a series of higher lows since June of last year. When JNK moves higher like this, historically it sends a positive message to stocks.

JNK has declined a very small percentage in the past two weeks, which has it testing rising support at (1).

So far JNK is not sending a negative divergence to stocks.

If JNK holds at support and rallies off (1), they continue to send a ...

Retail investors are last in line for market leading research, no matter, the retail investor can profit from these secret sauce patterns..

Well not so secret now, the main point is you do not have to climb Mount Everest to be called a mountain climber, there are many other hills to climb to make your mark. Just like stocks.

The Wuhan Wipeout - Could It Happen?

News is traveling fast about the Corona Virus that originated in Wuhan, China. Two new confirmed cases in the US, one in Europe and hundreds in China. As we learn more about thispotential pandemic outbreak, we are learning that China did very little to contain this problem from the start. Now, quarantining two cities and trying to control the potential
