Bulls Hungry For Domino’s Options As Shares Rise To All-Time High

Today’s tickers: DPZ, JPM & JWN

DPZ - Domino’s Pizza, Inc. – Shares in Domino’s are bucking the trend today, rising as much as 2.2% to an all-time high of $43.74 on Thursday morning, even as most stocks decline on weaker-than-expected consumer confidence data for the month of December and the failure of U.S. lawmakers to arrive at a budget compromise. Options traders hungry for fresh highs in Domino’s Pizza shares in the first few months of the New Year snapped up call options on the name today. Bulls picked up around 100 in-the-money calls at the Jan. $43 strike for an average premium of $1.11 apiece, and purchased 70 of the higher Jan. $44 strike calls at an average premium of $0.60 each. Like-minded strategists looked to the Mar. $45 strike calls as well, buying 150 of those contracts at an average premium of $1.65 a-pop. Traders long the $45 strike calls stand ready to profit at expiration in March 2013 should shares in DPZ rally another 6.7% to top a new record high of $46.65 by expiration. The stock has gained 40% during the prior six month period. Domino’s Pizza is scheduled to report fourth-quarter earnings at the end of February, several weeks prior to March options expiration.

JPM - JPMorgan Chase & Co. – Options traders positioning for shares in JPMorgan Chase & Co. to rally during the first week of the New Year snapped up weekly calls on the largest U.S. bank by total assets this morning. Shares in JPM are down 1.8% this morning at $43.17, moving lower along with the broader market on disappointing consumer confidence data and concern the U.S. may go over the fiscal cliff. Traders anticipating a strong start to the New Year for shares in JPMorgan appear to have purchased more than 1,000 calls at the Jan. 04 ’13 $44 strike for an average premium of $0.52 apiece during the first 20 minutes of the trading session today. Call buyers stand ready to profit at expiration next week should shares in JPM reverse course and gain…

Bullish Options Plays Cheer Surprise Shakeup In Citi C-suite

Today’s tickers: C, DPZ & HD

C - Citigroup, Inc. – Shares in Citigroup are on the rise Tuesday despite the unexpected departure of CEO, Vikram Pandit, and President and COO, John P. Havens, this morning. The stock fell ahead of the opening bell on the announcement, but reversed losses at the open, gaining as much as 2% to $37.40 in the first half of the session. Trading traffic in out-of-the-money calls expiring in January of 2013 suggests some strategists are positioning for shares to reach their highest levels since July 2011 in the next few months. Traders exchanged more than 4,500 calls at the Jan. 2013 $41 strike this morning against open interest of 2,697 contracts. It looks like most of the volume was purchased for an average premium of $0.81 apiece, thus positioning buyers to profit in the event of an 11% move up in the price of the underlying to top the breakeven price of $41.81 by expiration next year. Bullish positioning at the higher Jan. 2013 $44 strike, where around 750 calls were purchased this morning at an average premium of $0.33 each, indicates traders are prepared to profit should the stock jump 18.5% to exceed $44.33 by January 2013 expiration. Overall options volume topping 200,000 contracts by 11:35 a.m. ET on Citigroup is well above the stock’s average daily options volume of 140,192 contracts. Calls are more active than puts, with roughly 1.3 call options changing hands on the stock for each single put option. Shares in the name rose on Monday following the company’s third-quarter earnings report.

DPZ - Domino’s Pizza, Inc. – The pop in shares of Domino’s Pizza following the company’s better-than-expected third-quarter earnings report this morning is delivering hefty paper profits to traders who snapped up call options on the stock yesterday. Shares in DPZ rallied more than 8% this morning to touch $41.51, the highest level since March, after the company posted earnings and sales…

Good Fortune For Buyers Of Calls Ahead Of P.F. Chang’s/Centerbridge Deal

Today’s tickers: PFCB, INTC & DPZ

PFCB - P.F. Chang's China Bistro, Inc. – Shares in Asian-themed restaurant operator, P.F. Chang's China Bistro, jumped 30.0% to $51.56 today after Centerbridge Partners LP agreed to take the Scottsdale, Arizona-based Company private in a deal valued at $1.09 billion, or $51.50 per share. The sharp move to the upside in shares of PFCB has some resulted in big gains for some traders sitting on bullish positions in the front month options. A couple of weeks ago the May $45 strike call was purchased more than 2,000 times at a premium of $0.30 apiece. The stock closed April 16th at $39.50 such that buyers of the $45 strike calls required a 15.0% move up in the shares to breakeven above $45.30 by expiration. Instead, shares in P.F. Chang's rallied more than 30.0% since the contracts were purchased, resulting in massive paper profits of $6.20 per contract given the calls currently display a last-traded price of $6.50 each. The trader or traders long the $45 calls are still holding onto the contracts as of 11:45 a.m. in New York. P.F. Chang's China Bistro, Inc. reported first-quarter earnings and revenue slightly below expectations prior to the opening bell this morning.

INTC - Intel Corp. – Bullish positions are building in the weekly options on Intel Corp., with shares in the chip giant up better than 2.0% at $29.02 in the first half of the session, helping to lift the Dow Jones Industrial Average to the highest in four years. Intel's shares traded up to their highest level since 2004 today and it looks like some strategists are positioning for the stock to extend gains this week. Volume in the weekly calls is heaviest at the May 04 '12 $29 strike, where more than…

Crocs, Inc. Options Active As Shares Tank

Today’s tickers: CROX, SHLD, TLM & DPZ

CROX - Crocs, Inc. – Lower-than-expected third- and fourth-quarter sales guidance from the maker of plastic clogs trounced shares in Crocs, Inc. today, roughly two weeks before the company’s official third-quarter earnings release on November 3. Shares in CROX plunged 39.15% to as low as $16.21 this morning. Options on Crocs are changing hands at a fairly rapid clip, with trading in calls outpacing that in puts by more than 3-to-1. Trading in CROX calls appears somewhat mixed. It looks like some strategists are buying call options to get ahead of any potential rebound in the price of the underlying should selling pressure ease up ahead of October expiration. The most active option is the Oct. $18 strike call, where more than 3,200 contracts changed hands by 11:25 am EDT against zero open positions. Investors paid or received an average premium of $0.43 per contract depending on whether they were buying- or selling-to-open the position. Buyers of the contracts profit at expiration in the event that shares in CROX rally 11.0% over the current price of $16.60 to surpass the average breakeven point at $18.43. Meanwhile, sellers of the calls walk away with the full $0.43 credit received as long as the shoemaker’s shares fail to rally above $18.00 at expiration.

The sharp drop in the price of the underlying may be just what some bearish strategists were hoping to see. Open interest indicates there are 770 existing positions open in the Nov. $27 strike put. Examining changes in the open interest level at that strike suggests 500 of the puts were likely purchased by one trader at a premium of $2.20 each this past Friday. Shares in Crocs ended the previous week at $26.97. The subsequent nosedive in the price of the underlying now sees the price tag on those puts 380.0% higher at $10.60 as of 11:30 am in New York. Premium on the put options may continue to climb if shares in CROX extend losses through November expiration. Options implied volatility on the stock jumped 28.4% to 87.9% in the first half of the session.

SHLD - Sears Holdings Corp. – A sizable bearish put spread on Sears Holdings Corp. may signal caution by at least one investor ahead of the specialty retailer’s third-quarter earnings report in less than one month. Shares in Sears rallied 3.4% to $75.00 by 12:30 pm in New York,…

FDA Expedites Review Process For Omicron Vaccines And Drugs

Courtesy of ZeroHedge View original post here.

It's been one week since the omicron variant first rattled markets and prompted the Federal Reserve's latest rethink of its plans for rolling back its monetary stimulus. And in that time, vaccine-makers have talked their book by sharing plans to produce new omicron-targeted vaccines, while others claim that there are no data suggesting the Pfizer-BioNTech jab is less effective against omicron.

Assuming the world still does care about omicron three months from now (the first cases of the variant have only just been confirmed in the US in recent days), the FDA and its advisors are reportedly working on an expedited approval pro...

Gold and Silver stock cycle bottom near

There are some regular cycles at play with the Gold and Silver stock leaders.

The metal stocks cycles in Australia lead the rest of world metal stocks. This is because you can make gains on the stock prices as well as the currency price (AUDUSD), this is the worlds first go to gold stock.

The US FED has just announced inflation is not transitory but is structural. This opens the door for inflation hedging strategies, and gold and silver stocks will be part of this play.

Chart 1 - This shows ASX Newcrest Mining near cycle lows, this is important as Wyckoff logic investors will be watching for 'whale' buying and accumulation swings up and down. Yes we may see a few more weeks of price moving along range bound lows but the cycle does ...

Until the Omicron variant hit the headlines, the signs were that 2021 was going to close with a stellar stock-market performance. Most markets have been on the rise since the beginning of the year, with the S&P500 up about 25% and the FTSE All Share index up by about 10%.

Adaptive Fibonacci Price Modeling System Suggests Market Peak May Be Near

Courtesy of Technical Traders

Our Adaptive Fibonacci Price Modeling system is suggesting a moderate price peak may be already setting up in the NASDAQ while the Dow Jones, S&P500, and Transportation Index continue to rally beyond the projected Fibonacci Price Expansion Levels.  This indicates that capital may be shifting away from the already lofty Technology sector and into Basic Materials, Financials, Energy, Consumer Staples, Utilities, as well as other sectors.

This type of a structural market shift indicates a move away from speculation and towards Blue Chip returns. It suggests traders and investors are expecting the US consumer to come back strong (or at least hold up the market at...

The numbers of new cases in some of the hardest hit COVID19 states have started to plateau, or even decline, over the past few days. A few pundits have noted it and concluded that it was a hopeful sign.

Is it real or is something else going on? Like a restriction in the numbers of tests, or simply the inability to test enough, or are some people simply giving up on getting tested? Because as we all know from our dear leader, the less testing, the less...
