Joy Global Call Options Active

JOY – Joy Global Inc. – Shares in the manufacturer and servicer of mining equipment rallied as much as 3.2% today to $59.35, the highest level in almost six months. The stock is up more than 20% since the end of August, but is still down roughly 10.0% year to date.

Trading in Nov 08 ’13 expiry call options near the start of the session suggests some options players are positioning for shares in Joy Global to continue higher ahead of the weekend. The most traded of these weekly contracts are the Nov 08 ’13 $59 strike calls, with around 1,700 lots in play against open interest of 83 contracts. Time and sales data suggests most of the $59 calls were purchased for an average premium of $0.37 apiece this morning. Traders long the call options stand ready to profit at expiration this week in the event that JOY shares settle above the average breakeven price of $59.37. The Nov 08 ’13 $60 strike calls also attracted fresh interest in the early going, with roughly 700 contracts traded by 11:15 a.m. EST. Overall options volume on Joy Global is above the daily average, with more than 12,000 contracts traded as compared to the stock’s average daily level of approximately 7,800 contracts. Calls are far more active than put options this morning, with the call/put ratio near 6.5 as of the time of this writing.

Traders Take To Joy Global Call Options

Today’s tickers: JOY, SFLY & PFE

JOY - Joy Global, Inc. – Shares in mining equipment maker, Joy Global, rallied as much as 3.2% at the start of the session to $75.18, but the stock has since slipped into negative territory, trading down 0.50% to stand at $72.51 as of 12:50 p.m. in New York. Call buying on JOY this morning indicates traders are gearing up for shares in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based Company to increase in the near term. Weekly calls and front month calls saw the most action today before the stock surrendered gains to join in on the broad market decline. In-the-money $70 strike weekly calls changed hands 1,000 times for an average premium of $3.89 apiece, and appear to have been purchased by traders expecting shares to top $73.89 at expiration. Call buyers also targeted the $75 and $77.5 strike weekly options, snapping up more than 400 lots at each strike at average premiums of $1.66 and $0.32 each, respectively. Front month calls were most active at the April $80 strike, where more than 4,650 contracts traded against open interest of 3,935 positions. It looks like the majority of the contracts were purchased for an average premium of $0.47 apiece, thus positioning buyers to make money should Joy Global’s shares jump 11.0% to exceed the average breakeven price of $80.47 at expiration next week.

SFLY - Shutterfly, Inc. – The selloff in shares of Shutterfly continued for a second-straight day on news Facebook will pay roughly $1 billion to buy Instagram’s photo-sharing application. SFLY’s shares are 4.4% lower today to stand at $26.98, but have lost 60.0% of their value in the past 52 weeks since reaching an all-time high of $66.70 back on April 28, 2011. Some traders appear to be positioning for the…

Merry Christmas to All!

Christmas!

The very word brings joy to our hearts. No matter how we may dread the rush, the long Christmas lists for gifts and cards to be bought and given--when Christmas Day comes there is still the same warm feeling we had as children, the same warmth that enfolds our hearts and our homes. – Joan Winmill Brown

Remember, if Christmas isn’t found in your heart, you won’t find it under a tree.  - Charlotte Carpenter

My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that?  When we recall Christmas past, we usually find that the simplest things – not the great occasions – give off the greatest glow of happiness. -  Bob Hope

Christmas gift suggestions: To your enemy, forgiveness. To an opponent, tolerance. To a friend, your heart. To a customer, service. To all, charity. To every child, a good example. To yourself, respect. - Oren Arnold

Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas… perhaps… means a little bit more. - Dr. Seuss

To the American People: Christmas is not a time or a season but a state of mind. To cherish peace and good will, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas. If we think on these things, there will be born in us a Savior and over us will shine a star sending its gleam of hope to the world.- Calvin Coolidge

Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree. In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall. - Larry Wilde

A lovely thing about Christmas is that it’s compulsory, like a thunderstorm, and we all go through it together. – Garrison Keillor

I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. – Charles Dickens

"Dear Editor--I am 8 years old.

"Papa says, ‘If you see it in The Sun, it’s so.’
"Please tell me the truth, is there a Santa Claus?

Ubben Helping Investors Steer Away From Activist Investing With Inclusive Capital

By ActivistInsight. Originally published at ValueWalk.

Our profile in this month’s issue of Activist Insight Monthly is with Jeff Ubben, who recently shocked the activist community by taking his environmental and socially-focused Spring Fund outside of ValueAct Capital Partners, the firm he founded two decades ago. Silver Headed Back To $50, Top Of The Cup & Handle Pattern?

Courtesy of Chris Kimble

Could Silver be creating a multi-decade bullish “Cup & Handle” pattern? Possible!

Did a retest of a handle breakout take place in March at (1), where Silver created one of the largest bullish reversals in decades? Possible!

Could Silver be creating a 40-year bullish pattern? Anything is possible! I humbly have to say share this; I’ve been in the business for 40-years and I haven’t seen anything like this.

Silver looks to have double topped back in 2011 at $50, which was the 1980 highs. After double topping, Silver ...

Texas, Florida, Arizona, Georgia – The Branch COVIDIANS Are Still Burning Down the House

Courtesy of Lee Adler, WallStreetExaminer

The numbers of new cases in some of the hardest hit COVID19 states have started to plateau, or even decline, over the past few days. A few pundits have noted it and concluded that it was a hopeful sign.

Is it real or is something else going on? Like a restriction in the numbers of tests, or simply the inability to test enough, or are some people simply giving up on getting tested? Because as we all know from our dear leader, the less testing, the less...
