Surge In Plug Power Shares Fuels Options Trading Frenzy

The dramatic moves in fuel cell related stocks continues this week, with shares in Plug Power (Ticker: PLUG), FuelCell Energy (Ticker: FCEL) and Ballard Power Systems (Ticker: BLDP) beginning the trading week with explosive gains ahead of FuelCell Energy’s first-quarter earnings report after the closing bell, and following on the heels of a large order from Walmart for Plug Power, which the company confirmed in a press release on February 26th.

Shares in PLUG rose as much as 38% to touch $11.41 this afternoon, marking a near 150% move to the upside in the price of the underlying since Monday morning of last week when the stock opened at $4.60. With a last-traded price of $10.50 on the shares, PLUG is up a cool 6,000% since this time last year.

Options volume on Plug Power is tipping the scales, with nearly 310,000 contracts having changed hands on the stock versus an average daily reading for the metric of approximately 35,000 contracts with less than 30 minutes remaining before the closing bell. Volume is concentrated in the March expiry options, and the 21 Mar ’14 $10 strike calls are the most traded contracts overall, with around 29,500 of the calls traded versus open interest of 5,733 positions. Trading in PLUG calls is outpacing that of puts as the trading sessions wraps up, with around 1.45 calls changing hands for each single put traded. Overall options volume traded on the stock today exceeds total open interest on the stock of 269,000 contracts.

Order From Walmart Sparks Heavy Options Activity On Plug Power

An order from the world’s largest retailer energized shares in Plug Power Inc. (Ticker: PLUG) on Wednesday, sending the stock up nearly 20% to $4.64 during the first half of the trading session on heavy volume. The company confirmed in a press release today that it received a multi-site GenKey purchase order from Walmart (Ticker: WMT) to power electric lift truck fleets at six North America distribution centers. Shares in PLUG are up a whopping 3,700% since this time last year.

Options volume on PLUG is more than two times the stock’s average daily volume as of midday in New York, with upwards of 19,000 contracts in play versus an average reading of roughly 8,100 contracts. Trading in calls on Plug Power is outpacing that in puts, with the call/put ratio hovering near 6.5 as of the time of this writing.

Some traders appear to be looking out to options expiring in January of 2015 to position for the price of the underlying to extend its run. Roughly 3,200 of the Jan’15 5.0 strike calls changed hands this morning against open interest of just 209 contracts, with time and sales suggesting much of the volume was purchased at a premium of $1.35 each. The bullish trade makes money if shares in Plug Power rally another 36% over today’s high of $4.64 to exceed the effective breakeven point at $6.35 by January expiration. Shares in PLUG last traded above $6.35 back in April of 2011.

With leaked trades in their personal accounts already costing two Fed presidents their jobs, and a third - vice chair Richard Clarida - currently on the ropes amid speculation he will soon follow, a few weeks ago we joked that if forces within the Fed want to get rid of all the hawks, they should just leak Esther George - the Fed's last remaining uberhawk - trading record.

Price and Volume Swing Analysis on Bitcoin and Silver

Courtesy of Read the Ticker

Many take guidance from news, pundits or advisors. Well sometimes the swings of price and volume are a better measure of what happens next.

The big boys do not accumulate or distribute in single 1 second trade, they build positions over weeks, months and years. They use price swings in the market to build or reduce positions, and you can see their intent by studying swings of price and volume and applying Tim Ord logic as written in his book called 'The Secret Science of Price and Volume: Techniques for Spotting Market Trends, Hot Sectors, and the Best Stocks'.

Tim Ord is a follower of Richard Wyckoff logic, his book has added to the studies of Richard Wyckoff, Richard Ney and Bob Evans.

Ethereum's Turn To Outshine Bitcoin Is Coming, UBS Says

Courtesy of ZeroHedge View original post here.

After a stellar start to the year, which saw its price soar to an all time high above $4,100, trouncing virtually all of its crypto peers, Ethereum has stagnated in recent weeks, with its place in the spotlight taken by bitcoin whose impressive outperformance has been the result of now confirmed speculation that a bitcoin futures ETF is coming. It also meant that what has traditionally been a close correlation between the two largest cryptos has broken in favor of the larger peer; it would also suggest that ethereum is trading about $1000 cheap vs bitcoin.

Crude Oil Cleared For Blast Off On This Dual Breakout?

Courtesy of Chris Kimble

Is Crude Oil about to blast off and hit much higher prices? It might be worth being aware of what could be taking place this month in this important commodity!

Crude Oil has created lower highs over the past 13-years, since peaking back in 2008, along line (1).

It created a “Double Top at (2), then it proceeded to decline more than 60% in four months.

The countertrend rally in Crude Oil has it attempting to break above its 13-year falling resistance as well as its double top at (3).

A successful breakout at (3) would suggest Crude Oil is about to mo...

Adaptive Fibonacci Price Modeling System Suggests Market Peak May Be Near

Courtesy of Technical Traders

Our Adaptive Fibonacci Price Modeling system is suggesting a moderate price peak may be already setting up in the NASDAQ while the Dow Jones, S&P500, and Transportation Index continue to rally beyond the projected Fibonacci Price Expansion Levels.  This indicates that capital may be shifting away from the already lofty Technology sector and into Basic Materials, Financials, Energy, Consumer Staples, Utilities, as well as other sectors.

This type of a structural market shift indicates a move away from speculation and towards Blue Chip returns. It suggests traders and investors are expecting the US consumer to come back strong (or at least hold up the market at...

The numbers of new cases in some of the hardest hit COVID19 states have started to plateau, or even decline, over the past few days. A few pundits have noted it and concluded that it was a hopeful sign.

Is it real or is something else going on? Like a restriction in the numbers of tests, or simply the inability to test enough, or are some people simply giving up on getting tested? Because as we all know from our dear leader, the less testing, the less...
