Smith & Wesson Guidance Triggers Bullish Action In Stock, Options

Option activity on Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. suggests some traders may have pulled the trigger on bullish positions on the firearms maker today. SWHC shares are soaring, up nearly 15% at $14.93 as of the time of this writing, after the company updated guidance for the fourth quarter and full fiscal 2015 year (ending April 30, 2015), stating that orders through the fiscal fourth quarter were stronger than previously expected. The company upped its guidance for the quarter, pushing shares in the name to the highest level since June 2014 and sparking heavier than usual options activity. With little more than 60 minutes remaining in the trading session, traders have pushed options volume on SWHC to more than 5,600 contracts as compared to the stock’s average daily options volume of around 400 contracts. The bulk of the activity is in call options, notably the May 15.0 strike contracts. Roughly 2,500 of the 15.0 strike calls have changed hands against zero open interest. Most of the volume appears to have been purchased at a premium of $0.45 each. Buyers of these options stand ready to profit at May expiration in the event that SWHC shares continue to rally, specifically if the stock tops an average breakeven price of $15.45. Smith & Wesson fourth-quarter earnings are estimated for release in the back-half of June.

Buy pick: RGR

There’s a bull market in some things, and David has found one of them.

David’s Buy pick: RGR

Courtesy of The Oxen Group

Chart for RGRNote from David:  The buy pick is made every evening at Midnight before the next day begins. The pick is for a single day-trade of a stock or ETF. The Oxen Group provides analysis, entry/exit points, resistance levels,… Picks are only single day trades.

The Oxen Group, for Friday, is hoping the market may be able to extend some gains. One thing is for sure that tomorrow will tell us a lot. With absolutely no major economic data to be released, we will see where this market is headed. Futures are up currently on some nice earnings in after hours, as well as, a bullish day from our friends across the Pacific Pond.

One company that really shined on Thursday evening was Smith and Wesson. The company gave a revenue outlook that was very bullish as they said their quarterly revenue rose 20% above last year’s numberss. The stock jumped 14% in after hours. Further, they said their backlog is now over $200 million. The real kicker was that they said their demand is up, and they have not seen demand like this in a long time. Whether its the recession or something else, citizens seem to really want to exercise their right to bear arms.

Another company that could benefit from this news is arms producer, Sturm, Ruger and Company (RGR). The company got a minor 7% pump up in after hours on the news from SWHC, and the company should continue that positive trend tomorrow as news will make the market. We don’t like SWHC because it will pop up too high to make a large move, but Sturm should have a better ability to gap up less and move up higher on the bullish news. Technically, this news is perfectly timed, as well. The stock is at exactly a flat zone. It is really neither overbought or oversold. It is not overvalued or undervalued as well. The news should give a lot of buyers reason to jump in tomorrow.

Entry: First 10 – 25 minutes of session.

Exit 2-4% increase from buyin price.

Resistance: 12.50

"Make It Stop"

“Make It Stop”

Courtesy of

Every time the stock market falls, no really, every single time, a friend of mine texts me the same thing: “Make it stop.” And every time I tell him the same thing- “You should hope stocks go a lot lower.”

For people still contributing to their retirement accounts, they shouldn’t fear lower prices, they should pray for them.

Let’s look at a real world hypothetical example.

I sorted all twenty-year rolling returns for the S&P 500 and plucked returns near the median. Stocks had nearly identical compound annual growth rates in the ...

Nomura: Global Equity Sentiment "Has Managed To Avoid 'The Panic Zone'"... For Now

Courtesy of ZeroHedge View original post here.

US equity markets are excitedly recovering last week's losses as hope once again washes across global markets that lower rates, fiscal recklessness will save the world. The explicit driver of the bounce is yet another short-squeeze - the second biggest since the start of 2019.

Source: Bloomberg

The last time we saw a bounce like this was the first days of June, when - again - a heavy oversold reading going into a barrage of Fed speakers prompted m...

Transports 10-Year Bullish Trend Being Tested! Rally Time or Breakdown?

Courtesy of Chris Kimble

Is the DJ Transportation Index presenting a rare buying opportunity? The broad market most likely hopes so!

Transports have spent the majority of the past decade creating a series of higher lows. This pattern has created rising channel (1), which started back in 2009.

Transports have created a bearish divergence to the S&P 500 over the past 20-months, as they have created lower highs, while the S&P has done the exact opposite.

The softness in Transports has the testing its May lows and the 10-year rising channel to start out the week at (2). While testing...

New Zealand Becomes 1st Country To Legalize Payment Of Salaries In Crypto

Courtesy of ZeroHedge View original post here.

Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have been on a persistent upswing this year, but they're still pretty volatile. But during a time when even some of the most developed economies in the word are watching their currencies bounce around like the Argentine peso (just take a look at a six-month chart for GBPUSD), New Zealand has decided to take the plunge and become the first country to legalize payment in bitcoin, the FT reports.

The ruling by New Zealand’s tax authority allows salaries and wages to b...

Despacito - How to Make Money the Old-Fashioned Way - SLOWLY!

Are you ready to retire?

For most people, the purpose of investing is to build up enough wealth to allow you to retire.  In general, that's usually enough money to reliably generate a year's worth of your average income, each year into your retirement so that that, plus you Social Security, should be enough to pay your bills without having to draw down on your principle.

Unfortunately, as the last decade has shown us, we can't count on bonds to pay us more than 3% and the average return from the stock market over the past 20 years has been erratic - to say the least - with 4 negative years (2000, 2001, 2002 and 2008) and 14 positives, though mostly in the 10% range on the positives.  A string of losses like we had from 2000-02 could easily wipe out a decades worth of gains.

Still, the stock market has been better over the last 10 (7%) an...
