Virtual Portfolios

In addition to the many daily trade ideas we have at Philstockworld, we also keep several virtual portfolios for education and discussion.  While our virtual portfolios are a Membership exclusive, you can see some of our prior virtual portfolios and monthly trade reviews in our Portfolio Review section.  Recently, our monthly trade reviews (trade ideas from Phil's morning posts and Member Chat) have been on quite a tear, as follows:

  • PhilStockWorld July Trade Review - Too Bearish or Just Right?  (Part 1) - 42 Trade ideas, 39 winners (92%)
  • PhilStockWorld July Trade Review - Too Bearish or Just Right?  (Part 2) - 76 Trade Ideas, 55 winners (72%)
  • PhilStockWorld August Trade Review - Riding the Rapids (Part 1) - 50 Trade Ideas, 42 winners (84%)
  • PhilStockWorld August Trade Review - Riding the Rapids (Part 2) - 56 Trade Ideas, 44 winners (78%)

Can you benefit from having good ideas to trade from?  That's for you to decide.  We are an educational site, teaching you how to trade Stocks, Options and Futures.  We teach you how to manage your portfolio, including a concentration on ways to fix positions that go against you and how to produce an income from the positions you already have.  The fact that we're also pretty good at picking trades (and yes, we teach fundamental investing strategies) is just a nice bonus!

Optrader's Swing Trading Virtual Portfolio is updated daily for active traders and market timers using Optrader's exclusive system that stresses risk management with pre-defined entry and exit points.  This is backed up by Optrader's daily chat section where he discusses the trades with members and exchanges ideas on new ones as they develop.  Both Phil and Optrader are available most days to chat with Premium members live and Basic members can view many of the comments and also post comments at certain hours.  Phil tracks different things at different times of the year.  Phil often maintains a Buy List, filled with many stocks he considers good long-term values for a market bottom, with trade ideas associated with each one that are designed for less active trading, allowing for hedged entries to ride out the swings in the market while skipping the ulcers and collecting good monthly premiums and dividends.  During daily chat sessions, Phil also puts up many new trade ideas and is always happy to design ones for companies members are interested in.  For Premium members, Peter has an expertise in strangles and straddles, hedged trade ideas that work in almost any market.

Many of these trade ideas are sent to Premium and Members (at the Members request) via Email and can be picked up on most mobile devices.  Basic members can subscribe to alerts for an additional fee as well, choosing either Oprtader or Phil's alerts

TRUMP TAX POLICY: Destination Based Cash Flow Tax - WATCH THIS SPACE

By Caleb Gibbons, CFA, FRM. Originally published at ValueWalk.

By Caleb Gibbons, CFA, FRM,– Originally at IBankCoin.

Corporate tax policy is very important for global investors, for obvious reasons. Trump’s first full week in the big chair is a good time to remind people of what the potential drivers are for relative valuation going forward. The topic of tax has come up already today, “We will cut taxes massively”, “We are going to impose a very large border tax”.

As a non-American, I can analyze such matters with a degree of detachment. It appears difficult for Americans to move on and accept that the card have been dealt, played, and that the spoils will be split w...

Paul Craig Roberts Asks "Are Americans Racists?"

Courtesy of ZeroHedge. View original post here.

Authored by Paul Craig Roberts,

“Racist” is the favorite epithet of the left. Every white person (except leftists) is a racist by definition. As we are defined as racists based on our skin color, I am puzzled why we are called racists a second, third, and fourth time due to specific acts, such as favoring the enforcement of immigration laws. For example, President Donald Trump says he is going to enforce the immigration laws. For the left this is proof that Trump has put on the White...

Russell 2000 Turns Net Bearish Technically

Courtesy of Declan.

It was another day of modest change with little real turn in bullish/bearish outlook.  The Russell 2000 was the only one index to mark a technical change with a net bearish switch in technicals (MACD, Slow Stochastics, On-Balance-Volume).

There wasn't much to add for other indices. The S&P finished with a narrow doji on its 20-day MA. Technicals were little changed.

As China Slaps Fees On Bitcoin Trades, Japan Monthly Volumes Soar by 8,900%

Courtesy of Zero Hedge

There is one reason why bitcoin quickly became the darling of HFT and various high speed algo traders operating out of China and the rest of the world: domestic transactions were "frictionless", as there were no fees on buys or sells. Until last night, that is, because as China's three largest bitcoin exchanges, BTCC, Huobi and OkCoin, all said in separate statements on their websites late on Sunday, starting Tuesday they will charge traders a flat fee of 0.2% per transaction. This is only the latest fallout from the recent crackdown on Chinese bitcoin exchanges whose activities have drawn increased scrutiny from the centra...

Brownback wants Trump to emulate what he did in Kansas because it worked so well:

Sam Brownback Calls on Donald Trump to Mimic His Kansas Tax Plan

By RICHARD RUBIN and  WILL CONNORS

Sam Brownback, the Kansas governor whose tax cuts brought him political turmoil, recurring budget holes and sparse evidence of economic success, has a message for President-elect Donald Trump: Do what I did.

In 2013, Mr. Brownback set out to create a lean, business-friendly government in his state that other Republicans could replicate. He now faces a $350 million deficit when the Kansas legislature convenes in January and projections of a larger one in 2018. The state’s economy is flat and his party is fractured...
