This has gone very well so far!
Coming into the close of our first expiration period we managed to keep our losses under control while getting the winners off the table (and in GOOG’s case, just in time!). There is a duplicate entry in GOOG (the 8/4 $470 puts) that I can’t get out of the database so I changed the basis to $1,400 to zero out the effect.
We just DD’d on our long FRE and HOVs so we’ll see what happens but we’re mainly in cash now and if we can’t get this database fixed by the weekend I’ll start a clean one for next month. At this point, if you want to start with a fresh $10K, I’d go with 10 HOVs naked and 10 FREs naked and then you can play along from here.
Notice that these are not, for the most part, spectacular gains, averaging just 5.4% – it’s the leverage of capital and the turnover of winners that makes this trading style work. Taking small gains often is much better than sitting around waiting for a big winner.
