Research in Motion (NASDAQ: RIMM) could sell its handset unit, according to sources speaking to the UK’s Sunday Times. Other options could include spinning off the handset unit or selling a stake in the struggling Blackberry maker.
On May 29, Research in Motion announced that it had hired JP Morgan and RBC Capital Markets “to assist the Company and our Board of Directors in reviewing RIM’s business and financial performance.”
Research in Motion closed off its 52-week low on Friday at $9.86, down 2%.
