In addition to the iMac refresh, iPad Mini, and 13-inch MacBook Pro upgrade (which would include a Retina Display), Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) is rumored to be developing a next-gen iPod Touch.
According to AppleInsider, the new iPod will feature a four-inch screen, mirroring the rumored designs of the iPhone 5. Both devices are expected to use revolutionary technology that could cut down on supplies and boost Apple’s profits. However, there are also reports that the iPhone 5’s screen may be developed with new display technology from LG, which could put the old Retina Display to shame.
Additionally, AppleInsider reports that the new iPod may come with updated internal components (including an A5 processor), as well as a “refreshed aluminum housing.”
Interestingly, Siri is not mentioned in the report. As the most essential and most marketable feature of the iPhone 4S, it is not hard to imagine what Siri could do for the iPod.
