Hearing Possible Exxon Mobil Bid for Encana
The Rumor:
Exxon Mobil (NYSE: XOM) may bid for Canada’s Encana Corp. (NYSE: ECA), according to The Globe and Mail.
An Exxon Mobile spokesperson declined comment on the report. An Encana spokesperson was not available for comment.
Encana closed at $23.91 Friday, a loss of 0.29% on higher than average volume.
Hearing PE Chatter in Alliant Techsystems
The Rumor:
Alliant Techsystems (NYSE: ATK) is seeing interest from private equity firms, according to Deal Reporter on Friday. Monness Crespi upgraded the company from a Neutral to a Buy, also on Friday.
A spokesperson for Alliant Techsystems was not available for comment.
Alliant Techsystems closed at $57.43 Friday, a gain of 0.56% on 3 times average volume.
Hearing Chatter of Potential SAP Bid for Citrix Systems
The Rumor:
Germany’s SAP (NYSE: SAP) is rumored to be possibly considering a bid for Citrix Systems (NASDAQ: CTXS), according to sources. Back in April, Citigroup commented Citrix could be a takeover target.
An SAP spokesperson declined comment on the rumor. A Citrix Systems spokesperson was not available for comment.
Citrix Systems closed at $64.16 Friday, a loss of 1.16% on higher than average volume.
MeadWestvaco Corporation to Acquire India’s Ruby Macons
The Deal:
MeadWestvaco Corporation (NYSE: MWV) announced Friday a definitive agreement with Mr. Alibhai Nathani and family to purchase Ruby Macons Limited, India’s top producer of corrugated packaging materials and a leader in the country’s growing industrial packaging industry. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
MeadWestvaco Corporation closed at $30.37 Friday, a loss of 1.68% on average volume.
