Olympus (OTC: OCPNY) posted a profit in the fiscal second quarter.
Olympus posted a quarterly net profit of Y12.47 billion, versus a year-ago loss of Y30.91 billion.
Its operating profit climbed 29.5% to Y15.92 from Y12.29 billion, while revenue rose 0.1% to Y216.22 billion from Y215.95 billion. However, analysts were expecting a net profit of Y6.9 billion.
For the full fiscal year ending March, Olympus lifted its net profit forecast to Y8 billion from Y7 billion. However, it lowered its operating profit view to Y38 billion from Y50 billion and its revenue forecast to Y757 billion from Y920 billion.
Olympus shares dropped 1% to close at $15.84 on Friday.
