The Philadelphia Eagles Stadium Literally Powers the City

Courtesy of Benzinga.

Lincoln Financial (NYSE: LNC) Field has been home to some pretty incredible football action in the first decade since its opening. Take, 4th and 26, for instance.

But as of this month, it can boast to be home to a perennial powerhouse, regardless of the Eagles’ performance on the field.

More than 11,000 solar panels have been installed on the sides and roof of the stadium, producing 21,033.7 kilowatt hours of heat on a recent sunny day, according to Philly.com. That amounts to enough electricity to power two average American homes for a year.

The panels will be owned, maintained and operated by NRG Energy (NYSE: NRG) of Princeton, New Jersey.
