ZZ- Evidence that the characteristics of psychopathy are valued in the corporate world aren’t given because they’re self evident. Go through a list of characteristics of psycho/sociopathy and think about how one with those traits might be valued in the corporate world, and you’ll see what I mean. Psychopaths feel no anxiety or unease under any circumstances. Imagine the power you would have over people if right and wrong were entirely academic concepts to you. You could lie, persuade, and manipulate people to suit your goals for success and power. Along the way, of course, you would probably generate lots of money for your company. That is why these characteristics are valued. They remove a lot of internal barriers to success in business.

I don’t really understand your bad attitude toward this article. It’s as if you’re somehow personally offended by the ideas discussed. Do you not believe psychopaths exist beyond the murderous serial killer variety?

Regarding "which is it?" – Why can’t "it" be both? A fixation on rewards would lead one to work harder toward their goals, leading to greater achievement, and thus greater value in a corporation. You oversimplify the issue when you state that "the penal code consequences would not cause them to flourish". First, psychopaths come in different IQs just like everyone else. Dumb ones who break the law get caught. Second, there is plenty of behavior that is amoral or unethical that doesn’t have consequences in the penal system. Thus the smart psychopath can certainly flourish by engaging in amoral/unethical behavior on the sly, provided they have the brains to cover their tracks.
