Perhaps the most democratic solution to the deficit would be to bring into effect a one time confiscatory tax that would take ALL the assets bar $5 million of the ten most wealthy individuals. This would be very popular with 90% of the 100 most wealthy individuals who would undoubtedly fund the reelection campaigs of Senators, keep them supplied with hookers, etc.
Admittedly the Buffets and Gates of this world would not be very happy, but then they already give away a lot of their wealth voluntarily, so why not help them go the whole hog to the benefit of us all?
