K1, I’m looking forward to your experiment. I have similar restraints. Most of the time I can choose when do I work from home, but not always (business trips tend to drop on very short notice; there is design issues to be discussed at the office etc.). And, again, similar to your case, I can have conference calls, several (real-time) chats going on at the same time, not to mention the release-ing periods…
Additionally to these constraints, I don’t want to replace one full-time job with another 🙂 Initially, when I started with trading was (and still is) very interesting, a lot to learn (every day I found more things to learn), and so on. But, I don’t see myself staring at quotes from 9:30am till 4pm. Maybe I got spoiled, but I don’t mind the hours in front of the computer (I do it anyway), but I do mind the fixed start and end 🙂 I always liked my job because of its flexibility, I can work in the morning or over the night, however I feel that day 🙂
So, I’m looking for a system that allows me freedom of movement, and that can be executed from a single notebook. What can I say, I like to sail, and multiple monitor setup is not for regata boats 🙂
Basically, the last several months I made a lot of changes to my approach to trading. I’m basically using this site as idea generator and way to monitor the market from a single place (it beats reading many many different blogs and sites).
