CBS gets an assist from Chief Justice John Roberts

CBS (CBS +0.1%) trails other media stocks on the day with the company seen as having more at stake in the Aereo case in front of the Supreme Court. Though not quite a pure-play broadcaster, CBS is less diversified than the parent companies of its major network peers.
Deadline.comnotes shares of CBS dipped mysteriously during the Supreme Court’s early period of questioning before recovering. A suggestion from Chief Justice John Roberts that Aereo technology seems to be a mechanism to avoid copyright probably helped the CBS cause.
Roberts to Aereo: “Your technology model is based solely on circumventing legal prohibitions.”
