The following are the M&A deals, rumors and chatter circulating on Wall Street for Wednesday July 2, 2014:

Facebook Acquires LiveRail

The Deal:
Facebook (NASDAQ: FB) announced Wednesday, that it has acquired advertising technology company LiveRail. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Facebook shares closed Wednesday at $66.45, a loss of more than 2%.

Hearing Unconfirmed Marker Chatter of Potential Devon Bid from Chevron, $90/Share Rumored

The Rumor:
Shares of Devon Energy (NYSE: DVN) rose early Wednesday, on unconfirmed market chatter of a potential bid from Chevron (NYSE: CVX). The rumored offer is $90.00 per share. The two companies have been mentioned previously as a possible pairing.

Spokespersons for Devon and Chevron declined comment on the rumor.

Devon Energy closed Wednesday at $78.58, a loss of $0.50.

Kroger to Acquire Vitacost.com for $8.00/Share

The Deal:
Kroger (NYSE: KR) and online retailer of healthy living products, Vitacost.com (NASDAQ: VITC) announced Wednesday a definitive merger agreement, under which Kroger will purchase all outstanding shares of Vitacost.com for $8.00 per share in cash, or approximately $280 million, through a tender offer. The deal is expected to close in Q3 of 2014.

Vitacost.com closed Wednesday at $7.97, a gain of 27%.

Report Shutterfly Hires Qatalyst

The Rumor:
Shares of Shutterfly (NYSE: SFLY) surged higher in the premarket Wednesday, on a report from Bloomberg, that the digital photo company had hired Qatalyst Partners, to assist in a sale of the company, according to sources.

A spokesperson for Shutterfly declined comment on the report.

Shutterfly closed Wednesday at $50.00, a gain of almost 15%.

Bio-Techne to Acquire Novus for $60M in Cash

The Deal:
Techne Corporation (d/b/a Bio-Techne) (NASDAQ: TECH), announced Wednesday, that it has acquired supplier of antibodies and other reagents for life science research, Novus Biologicals for $60 million in cash. The deal was financed with cash on hand.

Bio-Techne closed Wednesday at $93.65, a loss of $0.57.
