Greece continues to get plenty of coverage, but it isn't nearly as important as the headlines would have you believe.

For what seems like the better part of a decade, Greece has dominated the headlines of the financial media. For whatever reason, there has been a tendency to attribute daily moves in the market, both positive and negative, to the latest developments in Athens.

If you didn’t know any better, you’d likely think Greece was one of the world’s largest economies and that the fate of global markets hung in the balance. The fiscal problems in Greece are real, but the threat to the global economy is grossly overstated.

Investors have spent far too much time worrying about a country with an economy slightly smaller than Connecticut’s.
