The German state election for Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is on September 4. That is chancellor Angela Merkel’s home base.
Polls show Merkel’s CDU party will not win the election. In fact, AfD is running neck-and neck with CDU in the battle for second place.
AfD is an anti-immigration, eurosceptic political party.
In five days we find out if CDU comes in third place to AfD.
