REMEMBER COVID? PLENTY of people have already moved past the lockdowns, social distancing, and other protective measures. But for people with long COVID—symptoms that continue to linger for months or years—the pandemic isn’t over.
According to the World Health Organization, for every 100 people infected, 6 developed long COVID. One of the most common and debilitating symptoms was brain fog—severe difficulty in thinking or concentrating. For years, researchers have tried to uncover the mystery behind this debilitating symptom. And finally we have some answers.
A new study published in Brain Communications earlier this month pinpoints the first biological evidence to explain why long COVID brain fog happens, and potentially provides a new target for treatments.
