This is just silly!

The ceasefire deadline if officially tonight. Trump is publicly saying “lots of bombs will start going off” if no deal by the “ceasefire deadline Tuesday evening” per his PBS call yesterday but the formal ceasefire (struck Tuesday, April 7th) runs a full two weeks and expires at 5:30 AM IST Wednesday, which is 8:00 PM EST Tuesday tonight. This is why people are so confused, India is 9.5 hours ahead of us (So the “Tuesday evening” and “Wednesday” statements are actually the same moment by people who don’t specify time zones). That’s the actual deadline.
Meanwhile, as of 8:18 AM THIS MORNING, there is no confirmation that VP JD Vance has boarded Air Force Two. The last confirmed movement of Vance was him boarding Air Force Two on April 12th, when he returned from the failed first round. What we have for this round is:
-
-
Trump said Sunday on Truth Social: “My representatives are going to Islamabad, Pakistan — they will be there tomorrow evening, for negotiations”
-
The White House told CNN on April 19th that Vance, Witkoff and Kushner were all traveling despite Trump saying Vance wasn’t attending. So Trump and his own White House were contradicting each other 48 hours ago about whether his own VP was on the trip.
-
No flight-tracker confirmation, no photo, no official readout has surfaced of the US delegation arriving in Islamabad for Round 2 as of this morning. The Facebook photos that circulate in search results are from the April 10th departure for Round 1, NOT of a new mission.
-
Trump is on CNBC – even as I write this (8:30) – saying “they said they didn’t send anyone but they’ll send someone.” WTF??? He is claiming the Strait is open and only the “Fake News” is saying it’s not. Even Joe Kernen is having trouble buying this bullshit.
I’m trying to get more “facts” but Trump is just rambling about how well the war went (that we already won) and Kernen keeps saying “tomorrow” and he’s just a propaganda machine for Trump so I assume they are attempting to confuse the issue and create a stealth extension because, CLEARLY there are no talks happening today and Trump is just trying to will them into existence by endlessly repeating his threats.
Now Trump has drifted into wild accusations against Jerome Powell, claiming that the rennovation project on the Federal Reserve was supposed to cost $25M and now it’s going to be over $4 Billion – insinuating that Powell somehow stole $3.999975 Billion and Trump will not rest until he is prosecuted.
He’s bragging about how his Ballroom is ahead of schedule and under his $300M budget (was $100M once upon a time) and he’s talking about how he brought every project he worked on on time and under budget, etc. His is like your grandpa when he tells the same stories over and over again but with different, made-up details…
Plus you WISH the President of the United States had something better to do for 15 minutes (and still going) on a Tuesday morning….
Let’s have the AGI Round Table double check the facts:
🧠 Did Iran Send Anyone?
No. AP/US News is the definitive source on this and, as of Tuesday morning: “NO official has acknowledged that a delegation will be heading to Islamabad” and “on 21 April it was reported that Iran did not send any representative to the talks” (US News, Wikipedia — Islamabad Talks). Iran’s state TV is explicitly saying “no delegation.“
Pakistani officials are still hoping Iran arrives “by late Tuesday“. Pakistan has the Red Zone locked down and the Serena Hotel on standby, but they’ve been on standby “for days now” with no movement.
Who Said What, Freshest First (with credibility weighting)
HIGH credibility — official, on-record:
-
-
Pezeshkian (Iran President), Monday April 20: “They seek Iran’s surrender. Iranians do not submit to force… US officials are sending unconstructive and contradictory signals”
-
Ghalibaf (Iran chief negotiator), early Tuesday April 21 via X: Iran “would not accept negotiations beneath the shadow of threats” and is “prepared to reveal new cards on the battlefield”
-
Saeed Khatibzadeh (Iran Deputy FM), Monday: “No date had been set for the next round of negotiations, adding that a framework of understanding must be agreed first”
-
Esmaeil Baqaei (Iran FM spokesperson), Monday presser: “There are currently no intentions to participate in negotiations with the U.S.”
-
MEDIUM credibility — official but historically unreliable:
-
-
Trump, Monday PBS call: “Lots of bombs will start going off” if no deal by Tuesday evening
-
Trump, Sunday Truth Social: Representatives will be in Islamabad “tomorrow evening” — no photographic confirmation they arrived
-
Trump, previous: “power plants and bridges“ threat — originally issued before Round 1, reheated for Round 2
-
LOW credibility — pure theater:
-
-
Trump to Fox News, April 19: Talks “will resume in Pakistan on April 20” — did not happen on Monday by any independent verification
-
Trump: “Iran has agreed to everything” / “agreed to never close the Strait” / “joint US-Iranian excavators“ — all denied by Tehran; these are the “7 Lies” Ghalibaf publicly called out
-
The Actual State Of Play — Stripped of Spin
-
-
The two-week ceasefire expires tonight at 8 PM ET / 5:30 AM IST Wednesday.
-
No confirmed Round 2 talks are happening. The US delegation’s arrival is unconfirmed by photo/flight tracking. The Iranian delegation has explicitly not been sent and the Foreign Ministry says no plans to attend.
-
Both sides’ public positions are hardening, not softening, over the 48 hours since Friday’s rally:
-
Iran: won’t negotiate under threat, has “new cards on the battlefield,” full control of Hormuz stays until US blockade lifts, HEU is non-negotiable, Lebanon ceasefire required
-
US: 12 warships + 100 aircraft still blockading Iranian ports, just seized the MV Touska Sunday, Trump threatening strikes on power plants and bridges
-
-
Prediction markets had ceasefire extension at 64% and “permanent peace deal by April 22” at just 15.5% — those odds have almost certainly deteriorated further overnight.
-
Futures are rallying this morning anyway — essentially on the hope that Iran will show up by “late Tuesday” and both sides will sign a narrow extension MoU rather than resume hostilities at 8 PM.
-
The Punchline for Your Report

Your title is not hyperbole — it’s literally true as of this moment. The market is rallying on “peace talks” that have:
-
-
No confirmed US delegation on the ground
-
No Iranian delegation sent, per Iran’s own state TV and Foreign Ministry
-
No agreed framework, no set date, no mediator optimism (Pakistan dropped from “breakthrough expected” last Wednesday to “hoping by late Tuesday” this morning)
-
Both principals publicly escalating rhetoric in the final 24 hours
-
😎 The only thing making this “Peace Talks Tuesday” is Trump’s Sunday Truth Social post saying his reps would be there “tomorrow evening,” which Iran’s Foreign Minister spokesperson directly contradicted yesterday. The market is essentially trading on one side’s claim that the other side will show up, while the other side is on television saying they won’t. That’s it. That’s the rally.
If Iran does fly someone in by tonight, the likely outcome is still a narrow 30-60 day ceasefire extension MoU, not a deal, because the structural issues (HEU, Hormuz, blockade, Lebanon, $20B frozen assets) are nowhere near resolved and WILL NOT BE RESOLVED in a single additional session. If Iran doesn’t fly in, we’re back in 8 PM bomb-threat territory with oil blowing back through $100 and the VIX back to 25+.
Either way, buying SPX at 7,100, with the Dow almost at 50,000 this morning on the “peace” tape is paying for an outcome the Iranians are publicly telling you isn’t happening.
Meanwhile, as if to PROVE Hunter’s point from yesterday’s Live Member Chat Room about our broken Health Care System, United Health just announced RECORD EARNINGS and is up 7.5% ($23Bn) as they plan to buy back $2Bn (0.666%) of their own stock since lowering their costs to the actual patients would be RIDICULOUS, right?
9:10 – Trump JUST stopped talking – 40 friggin’ minutes – ZERO content!
