Upside Call Buyers Look For Further Gains In Travelers

Today’s tickers: TRV, ETH & DGX

TRV - The Travelers Companies, Inc. – The provider of commercial and personal property and casualty insurance products and services is the biggest gainer in the Dow Jones Industrial Average today, with shares up as much as 4.65% to hit a record high of $74.70, after the company reported third-quarter profits that handily beat average analyst expectations. The blowout earnings release sparked fresh bullish positioning in Travelers Cos. options this morning as some traders look for shares in the insurer to extend gains. Meanwhile, options players that snapped up TRV calls on Wednesday, prior to the earnings report, are enjoying sizable paper profits on those positions. Traders anticipating higher-highs for TRV shares by the end of this week picked up around 1,100 calls at the Oct. $75 strike for an average premium of $0.22 apiece. These contracts have one full trading day remaining until expiration, and may be profitable should shares in TRV settle above the average breakeven price of $75.22 by end of day Friday. Upside call buying spread to the November expiry options where $75 and $77.5 strike calls are most active. Traders purchased around 600 calls at each strike in the first half of the session for average premiums of $0.95 and $0.30 apiece, respectively, and may profit at November expiration in the event that TRV shares settle above breakeven prices at $75.95 and $77.80. Paper profits on positions initiated Wednesday afternoon are available for the buyer or buyers of 800 of the Oct. $72.5 strike call at an average premium of $0.15 apiece. The now deep in-the-money $72.5 strike call currently displays a last-traded price of $1.70 per contract, an 11-fold overnight-increase in the value of those options. Finally, some strategists appear to be purchasing downside protection, notably the Nov. $72.5 and $75 strike put, perhaps to lock in gains on the impressive 25% increase in Travelers shares since June.

All-Time High for Amazon has Option Traders Raising the Bar

Today’s tickers: AMZN, MU, ETH, AMR, WYN, TBT, BAC, PCS, DE, ING, RSH & BCRX

AMZN – Amazon.com, Inc. – Shares of the online retailer surged to an all-time high of $125.44 during the trading session. Investors exchanged approximately 241,000 option contracts on AMZN by 3:00 pm (EDT), which represents about 41% of the total existing open interest on the stock of 591,993 lots. Bullish investors expecting Amazon to rally even higher purchased 7,000 calls at the November 135 strike for an average premium of 1.84 apiece. Optimism spread to the higher November 140 strike where 2,800 calls were picked up for 1.05 each. Super bullish traders looked to the highest available strike price in the front month – the November 150 strike – to purchase 1,000 calls for an average premium of 31 cents per contract. Shares of Amazon.com rallied 36% to reach today’s intraday high of $125.44, climbing up from an intra-week low of $91.98 on Thursday October 22, 2009. Investors holding calls at the November 135 strike will profit by expiration if shares of AMZN gain 9% over the high of $125.44 to breach the breakeven price of $136.84. Finally, near-term put options were also in demand by investors looking to lock in gains enjoyed during Amazon’s recent run-up. Traders shelled out an average of 6.92 per contract to buy 3,100 puts at the November 125 strike.

MU – Micron Technology, Inc. – Option traders invested in April contract call options on the semiconductor manufacturer despite the 0.5% decline in shares to $7.41. It appears some 9,200 calls were purchased by MU-optimists at the April 8.0 strike for an average premium of 1.08 per contract. Call-buyers apparently expect shares to rally significantly within the next six months. Investors holding the call options will profit by expiration if shares of MU rally at least 22.5% to the breakeven point at $9.08.

ETH – Ethan Allen Interiors, Inc. – Home-furnishings retailer, Ethan Allen, experienced a more than 14% decline in shares today to $14.30 after the firm forecast a wider-than-expected loss of 21-23 cents for the first quarter. Analysts predicted an 8 cents per share loss before the firm lowered guidance last week. Long-term downside protection is in demand as traders picked up some 5,500 puts at the May 12.5 strike for an average premium of 1.76 apiece. Investors holding long positions in the underlying stock will find protection…

Five Reasons Why Bitcoin is Going Up

Five Reasons Why Bitcoin is Going Up

Courtesy of

Call it the “Respectability Rally”…

A few reasons for Bitcoin’s return to the record highs. It’s about $18,500 as of this writing, matching the previous highs from 2017’s original explosion.

Reason one: It’s going up because it’s going up. Don’t scoff, this is the reason most things in the markets happen and then the explanations are called for afterwards. I’m in financial television, I have literally watched this process occur in real-time. The more something moves in a given direction, the more peop...

Will Silver Price Reversal Bring Another Historic Decline?

Courtesy of Chris Kimble

Precious metals caught lightning in a bottle for the first 7 months of the year, with Gold notching new all-time highs and Silver making to multi-year highs in August. But both have reversed lower since peaking in August and investors should pay attention.

It might be nothing… or it might be something! Especially for Silver, which didn’t follow Gold’s lead in making all-time highs.

Today’s chart is a long-term “monthly” chart of Silver. As you can see, it was hi-yo Silver for the first 7 months ...

Nikola Shares Soar On New GM MOU, But GM Steps Away From Equity Stake, Badger

Courtesy of ZeroHedge View original post here.

Nikola signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding with General Motors for a global supply agreement related to the integration of GM’s Hydrotec fuel-cell system into Nikola’s commercial semi-trucks.

While perhaps looking like a partnership in the way it was announced, the agreement appears to be little more than Nikola becoming a GM customer.

The announcement also comes on the same day Trevor Milton's ...

COVID-19 Forces More Than Half of Asset Management Firms to Accelerate Adoption of Digital Marketing Technology

By Jacob Wolinsky. Originally published at ValueWalk.

There is no doubt that the use of technology to support client engagement initiatives brings both opportunities and threats but this has been brought into sharp focus this year with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The crisis has brought to the fore the need for firms to enable flexibility in client engagement – the expectation that providers will communicate to clients on their terms, at their speed and frequency and on their preferred channels, is now a given. This is even more critical when clients are experiencing unparalleled anxiety from both market conditions and their own personal circumstances.

Adaptive Fibonacci Price Modeling System Suggests Market Peak May Be Near

Courtesy of Technical Traders

Our Adaptive Fibonacci Price Modeling system is suggesting a moderate price peak may be already setting up in the NASDAQ while the Dow Jones, S&P500, and Transportation Index continue to rally beyond the projected Fibonacci Price Expansion Levels.  This indicates that capital may be shifting away from the already lofty Technology sector and into Basic Materials, Financials, Energy, Consumer Staples, Utilities, as well as other sectors.

This type of a structural market shift indicates a move away from speculation and towards Blue Chip returns. It suggests traders and investors are expecting the US consumer to come back strong (or at least hold up the market at...

Texas, Florida, Arizona, Georgia – The Branch COVIDIANS Are Still Burning Down the House

Courtesy of Lee Adler, WallStreetExaminer

The numbers of new cases in some of the hardest hit COVID19 states have started to plateau, or even decline, over the past few days. A few pundits have noted it and concluded that it was a hopeful sign.

Is it real or is something else going on? Like a restriction in the numbers of tests, or simply the inability to test enough, or are some people simply giving up on getting tested? Because as we all know from our dear leader, the less testing, the less...
