    Snow, that’s very interesting.  Are you saying at upper end of the human age range, say 45 and up, the death rate was the same or better in the old days (prior to 100 years ago?) — so only counting those above 45, there is no benefit to living now and having modern medical interventions available?  Or is there a benefit to our medical interventions that’s canceled out by diseases brought on by smoking and obesity?
