jelutuck – I'm making the call now – 2020, Texas goes blue!
I'm also taking AZ as well. These States were interesting in the last election. Despite the massive rust belt shift that ultimately swung the election (e.g., WI), Texas went 16 points for Romney, but only 10 for Trump, and AZ went 10 for Romney and only 5 for Trump.
I think AZ will be about as blue as NM next time around. Texas will be a squeaker, but I think it goes blue. Obviously, I'm predicting a blue blow-out in 2020.
But for whom? President Obama? President Warren? Warren is already 67, so maybe, maybe not. Bernie is 75 and he was very popular, so perhaps we don't mind folks in their 70's leading us. Trump is already the oldest inaugurated guy as well. Time for some new blood? Donna Edwards?
I think I said before, it's a relief not needing to sit around trying to defend the Clinton's anymore. For his supporters, Trump the Candidate and Trump the President are two very different things however. You can say whatever you want on the campaign trail, most if not all politicians do exactly this, but once your in office, you're the Top Guy. You are the CEO. Whatever goes right or wrong, it is Your Fault.
I'm not gay. I'm not minority. I have a photo ID. I'm not an immigrant (my great great grandfather came over from Great Britain, but whatever, that was a long time ago). So what do I really care. I mean, I care, but what can I really do? I like to defend these people that I see as targets of others' claim to privilege, but it only goes so far. If 47.6% of the population aren't going to bother to vote, so be it. Bush "won" in 2000 and took leveraged a GOP controlled House/Senate to start a Christian War in Iraq. That's some 4,000 US soldiers lives and $2T. We don't talk about it much anymore, for whatever reason, we instead needed to spend thousands of hours on 4 unfortunate fatalities in Benghazi. But 1000X as many brave soldiers in Iraq? Anyone? those people went off and died, and nobody, NOBODY accounts for their deaths anywhere, ever.
Pence thinks the earth is 4000 years old. That's just, and there is no other word for it, totally pathetic. Is there anything else to say here? So here we go again. I'll also mention I'm pretty glad I'm not draft age. Though I might be able to pull off the "heel spurs" shtick right around the same time I brag about how I'm the best baseball player in New York City. Haha. Man these people are losers.
I'm rambling. But it's a rainy weekend in Seattle so I welcome the discussions!
