More 2021 Predictions ….Is SnowFlake Overvalued?

More people that I trust and follow are out sharing their predictions, so I felt it would be a good idea to share them.
I will start with Ben Thompson who has a great look at the year 2020 in review.
There are so many takeaways from Ben’s essays all year and the ones that stand out to me as continuing into 2021 and beyond are the governments continued battles over disinformation and cybersecurity.
Ben spent a lot of the year explaining how companies going ‘direct to consumer’ (DTC) by focusing on niches were making great headway. That is something that will just keep working in 2021 and beyond. The tools and platforms just keep getting better.
Next up, Tomasz at Redpoint who I had on my podcast mid year is one of my fave enterprise investors to read. Here are his five predictions for 2021.
The one that stands out for me is data…
2020 becomes the decade of data. The 2010s were the decade of software and SaaS, the era when Salesforce become the first SaaS company to sail past the $100B market cap mark. The 2020s will be the era of data companies boosting massive markets. Database startups, data movement startups, data quality startups, data lineage startups, machine learning startups will be the zeitgeist of the decade as they shape the next wave of massive innovation.
The fact that I searched ‘Is Snowflake Overvalued‘ and got 100 percent articles saying yes…likely proves that everyone is missing the point.
It is what will now get built on the Snowflake platforms and others like it that will eventually tell us how under or overvalued Snowflake is.
