Order to Slow Down Starlink for Ukraine Came From Musk
Plus, U.S. envoy Tom Barrack said the U.S. is no longer the guarantor of global security, and Netflix reported its slowest revenue growth in years
1. Elon Musk ordered the Starlink slowdown that compromised the Ukrainian military.
Last week, the SpaceX founder capped the speeds at which Ukrainian hardware could stay connected to the satellite-based network, people familiar with the matter said, rendering some offensive drones and interceptor drones virtually useless. Musk and President Trump discussed the decision in a call soon after the slowdown became public, two of the people said. Both Musk and Trump have expressed anger at Ukraine for attacking Russian diesel refineries in recent weeks, which the president blames for high energy prices. SpaceX didn’t respond to a request for comment. Musk tweeted hours after the slowdown became public that any limits are decided by the U.S. military and the president.
