Videos Galore – divergences, dollars and gold

Adam Hewison at Market Club has a new video out discussing the "divergences" taking place in the S&P 500 right now.

divergenceAdam uses the MACD as an indicator to highlight non-confirmations between price and the MACD (or other oscillator-type indicator).  Divergences occur when a market makes a new high (or low) but the MACD indicator fails to confirm it.

In the video, he demonstrates divergences that didn’t work out, showing what to look for, and what to do if your divergence fails.

Adam also sent a couple videos a few days ago on the dollar and on gold.

Check them out here:

Market Club Videos: Gold and the S&P 500

The Reason Why Gold Hasn’t Skyrocketed

video

Courtesy of Adam at Market Club

With the printing presses in full printing mode, many people are questioning why gold prices haven’t gone higher – much higher.

In my new [gold] video, I explain some of the subtle market cycles that are at play right now in this market. These short-term cycles have been the dominant force in gold all year and appear to be still in control of price action.

I believe the longer-term upward trend in gold is very much intact; short-term we could see more of a trading range that has a downward bias. I think when you watch this video you will get a much better understanding about the rhythm of this market.

Two Major Technical Forces Are About to Collide in the S&P 500

The S&P 500 has seen remarkable recovery from the lows that were seen earlier this year. However, all of that may come to an end as we fast approach a strategic level for this market. There are two major technical indicators that are colliding at a crucial point and time.

In today’s short [S&P] video, I explain both the technical indicators we are discussing and also the important time frame that we are just about to enter.  [Click here for Market Club's S&P video. >> ]

I think you will find today’s video not only interesting, but also educational.

All the best,

Today we are going to be examining the NASDAQ Index. This market, which made its peak in 2000 at the height of the dot com bubble, remains in a secular bear market.

VIDEO HERE

After making a low in March of 2001, this market has had multiyear recovery which has rallied it very close to a 50% Fibonacci retracement level. After a nearly 50% recovery, this market now appears to be faltering.

The months of September and October are now with us and both of these months tend to be treacherous for the equity markets. We would not be surprised to see more of a two-way trading market before it eventually falls on its own weight and resumes a downward path. This is what we expect to happen, however, we are going to rely on our Trade Triangle technology to give us the perfect timing for that event.

In today’s video I will show you graphically what I expect to happen to the NASDAQ Index.

All the best,
Adam Hewison

Well here I am at my vacation home in Maine watching the markets go crazy. Yes, we are so lucky to have access to the Internet and to the markets themselves no matter where we are in the world.  I didn’t plan on doing a video today, but the market action left me no choice. Today we witnessed an important “Trade Triangle” signal in this major index that should not be ignored.

In my new video, I share with you this same signal that thousands of MarketClub members witnessed and will discuss some of the potential downside targets for this index.  Enjoy!

GOLD

This video examines the cyclic pattern of gold.

Adam shares his thoughts on the cyclical pattern of the gold market. Market Club’s "Trade Triangles" recently kicked in a buy signal for gold.

GOLDMAN

How you SHOULD have traded Goldman?

Adam notes that Goldman Sachs (NYSE_GS) "declared record earnings of $3.4 billion for the three months prior to June, only months after it accepted government assistance. My gut reaction is how can an institution that so embodies Wall Street be making so much money as if the credit crisis never happened…  The video shows you how you could have used MarketClub’s “Trade Triangle” technology to make a ton of money just like Goldman Sachs."  That’s pretty ambitious!

Basic Trading 101

Courtesy of Allan

For me, trading is not a hobby, not a game of chance not some intellectual odyssey filled with clashing egos and chest pounding pissing contests. No, for me, trading is a way to make a living, doing something I love and am good at. So my approach is a little different then some of you may be used to.

Yet every so often a communication from one you impacts me with frustration and dismay. By now I would think that if you have been with me for six months, or a year, or longer, you would be making money trading, using some ideas and techniques that I have described over the months and years of writing AllAllan. But I hear something else from these communications, I hear that many of you are not getting it.

Today I am going to present to you three ways to trade using the simplest of strategies based on end of day prices and a minimal of necessary hardware or software. I am going to use an unleveraged ETF and remove all of my more sophisticated (read: expensive) tools, using only Market Club Triangles and 3 Line Break Point charts, both very similar in their construction and entirely objective in their application.

You can trade this going forward on XLF and probably not need anything else to be successful month to month, quarter to quarter and year to year. But it is my hope you will instead, glean from this the very basic premise of a simple rule-based system that can be applied and tweaked to any number of tradables, a simple trend following trading system from which anything is possible if you only have the discipline and desire to make it work.

XLF – Market Club Triangles -Daily Chart

market club charts
Their are actually two systems shown on the chart:

(1) Enter trades on appearance of WEEKLY TRIANGLES and exit on appearance of reversing DAILY TRIANGLES. If flat, RE-ENTER on appearance of DAILY TRIANGLE in direction of most recent WEEKLY TRIANGLE;

(2) ENTER/EXIT on appearance of WEEKLY TRIANGLES (disregard DAILY TRIANGLES).

S&P 500 Update, July 1st

Here’s Market Club’s updated analysis of the S&P 500. Courtesy of Adam Hewison, MarketClub’s co-creator.

S&P 500 Update, July 1st

Adam writes:

Today I’m going to take another look at the S&P 500 Index. It appears that some of the rose coloring on traders’ glasses is beginning to wear thin. Many more traders now perceive this as a two way trading market as opposed to a one way street we witnessed in March and April.

I am going to be analyzing a daily S&P index chart and making some observations that I think potentially could work out if certain elements fall into place.  At the present time our “Trade Triangle” technology is indicating a neutral stance in this market.

The monthly chart is still on a buy signal while the weekly signal is on a sell, leaving Adam fairly neutral.  Click here to watch the video.

Gold Rallies As Fear Take Center Stage

Courtesy of Technical Traders

Gold has rallied extensively from the lows near $1560 over the past 2 weeks.  At first, this rally didn’t catch too much attention with traders, but now the rally has reached new highs above $1613 and may attempt a move above $1750 as metals continue to reflect the fear in the global markets.

We’ve been warning our friends and followers of the real potential in precious metals for many months – actually since early 2018.  Our predictive modeling system suggests Gold will rally above $1650 very quickly, then possibly stall a bit before continuing higher to target the $1750 range.

The one thing all skilled traders must consider is the longer-term fear that is build...

Precious Metals Eyeing Breakout Despite US Dollar Strength

Courtesy of Chris Kimble

Gold and silver prices have been on the rise in early 2020 as investors turn to precious metals as geopolitical concerns and news of coronavirus hit the airwaves.

The rally in gold has been impressive, with prices surging past $1600 this week (note silver is nearing $18.50).

What’s been particularly impressive about the Gold rally is that it has unfolded despite strength in the US Dollar.

In today’s chart, we look at the ratio of Gold to the US Dollar Index. As you can see, this ratio has traded in a rising channel over the past 4 years.

The Gold/US Dollar ratio is currently attempting a breakout of this rising channel at (1).

This would come on further ...
