“The Defense Of The Oligarchs: MoveOn.org’s ‘Simple & Utter Brutishness'” – Hey, Not So Fast!

The article below came in through our ZH feed, and the author, Thad Beversdorf, urges us to look up MoveOn.org, a non-profit organization that supports Bernie Sanders. He suggests MoveOn is "fully funded by the Oligarchs, look it up" but Beversdorf did not provide a link regarding the funding. I looked. And I didn't find that MoveOn is "fully funded by the Oligarchs."

Here's what I found. From MoveOn's website:

Our MoveOn family is made up of two organizations:

  • MoveOn.org Civic Action, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization focusing on education and advocacy, providing civic engagement tools to the public, and building the progressive movement by encouraging and supporting the development of more grassroots leaders. Learn more about MoveOn.org Civic Action here.
  • MoveOn.org Political Action, a federal PAC, is focused on running powerful progressive advocacy campaigns and demonstrating MoveOn members’ power at the ballot box by electing candidates who reflect MoveOn members’ values. Learn more about MoveOn.org Political Action here.

Regarding funding, from FactCheck:

MoveOn.org formed in 1998 to oppose the impeachment of President Bill Clinton; it circulated an online petition "Censure President Clinton and Move On to Pressing Issues Facing the Nation." It was co-founded by Joan Blades and Wes Boyd, a married couple from California. Blades, who later also founded the group Moms Rising, writes a blog for the liberal Huffington Post. Boyd sits on the board of directors for Progressive States Network, a liberal advocacy group on issues including health care, immigration and energy.

MoveOn.org has grown into a major political force — both at the grassroots and national level. It was a 527 committee that took unlimited contributions from major Democratic donors. During the 2004 presidential campaign, MoveOn.org was the seventh-largest 527 committee and spent $21 million, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Initial donors included billionaire George Soros, a major donor to liberal causes, who spent millions in 2004 trying unsuccessfully to defeat President Bush.

MoveOn.org closed its 527 committee in 2008. It now operates a federal political action committee, which must disclose its donors and cannot accept more than $5,000 from any single source. MoveOn.org PAC raised and spent $38 million in 2008. It had spent $21 million during the 2010 campaign cycle, as of August. The PAC funds Internet and TV ads, raises money for liberal candidates and causes, and finances grassroots campaigns.

The group also created a 501(c)(4) called MoveOn.org Civic Action in 2001 for its advocacy work, including online petitions and e-mail campaigns. In fiscal year 2007, the most recent available, MoveOn.org Civic Action reported spending nearly $700,000

A list of big Moveon.org donors (up to $5000 donors for 2016) is here.  True, "Initial donors included billionaire George Soros, a major donor to liberal causes." Does that mean Moveon.org is a front for "the oligarchs," (all of them?), or does that mean that George Soros supports the cause? George Soros contributes funding to many "liberal" organizations, click here for a list.

The Top 5 Reasons MoveOn Members Voted to Endorse Bernie (with the Most Votes and Widest Margin in Our History)

By Ilya Sheyman

With a record-setting 78.6 percent of 340,665 votes cast by the MoveOn membership, Senator Bernie Sanders has won MoveOn.org Political Action’s endorsement for president with the largest total and widest margin in MoveOn history.

MoveOn.org only endorses candidates based on votes by our members. Our only previous presidential endorsement during a Democratic primary was for Barack Obama, in early 2008. In 2004, no Democratic candidate reached the threshold for an endorsement.

Here are 5 of the top reasons MoveOn members support Bernie and will mobilize on his behalf to get out the vote in Iowa, New Hampshire, and other crucial early states. Contine here.

MoveOn: Trump's Attempt to Scapegoat Progressive Activists Profoundly Dishonest

Statement from Ilya Sheyman, executive director of MoveOn.org Political Action:

“Like so much of what Donald Trump says, his attempt to scapegoat progressive activists and MoveOn.org for violence at his cancelled rally in Chicago is profoundly dishonest and untrue.

“MoveOn proudly supported University of Illinois at Chicago students and local organizers in their courageous nonviolent protest outside the event. We helped student leaders by printing signs and recruiting MoveOn members to attend the student-led protest.

“But let’s be clear about one thing, the protest Friday night was a direct result of the violence that has occurred at Trump rallies and that has been repeatedly encouraged by Trump himself from the stage. There is only one person to blame for the chaotic and often violent nature of Trump rallies: Donald J. Trump. This sort of violence does not happen at Sanders, Cruz, Clinton, Rubio, or Kasich events, despite the fact that there are often protests at their events.

“Unlike Republican leaders, we will not back down or be cowed in the face of a fascist bully like Donald Trump. For as long as Donald Trump is a presidential candidate, MoveOn members will continue to call out and nonviolently protest his racist, bigoted, misogynistic, xenophobic, and violent behavior. While such vitriol may help him win a plurality of votes in a Republican primary, our country is better than the shameful, dangerous, and bigoted rhetoric that has been the hallmark of the Trump campaign. Trump and those who peddle hate and incite violence have no place in our politics and most certainly do not belong in the White House.

“Love and democracy must prevail over violence and hate.”

And now, with that background, read the headlined article, The Defense of the Oligarchs: MoveOn.org's "Simple & Utter Brutishness" and come to your own conclusions.

Kids these days…  So the Trump rally in Chicago was successfully disrupted by mostly young and socio-economic despondent protestors who have, unknowingly, been turned into pre-programmed anti-Trump warriors by the Oligarchs they claim to hate (yes MoveOn.org is fully funded by the Oligarchs, look it up). The very same mentality that naively fell hook-line-and-sinker into Obama’s message of “Change, Yes We Can”.  Now many of these protestors today are simply too young to remember the 2008 Obama campaign for what it really was; the greatest fraud in the history of American politics (and wow is that saying something).

However, this time around there are millions of Americans who do have the benefit of recent history still burned into their hearts.  Millions of previously naive, young voters devastated by the deceit of politics, leaving them scorned are now ready to fight the Oligarchs and the bought and paid for Executive and Legislative branches of government.  Citizen soldiers are a key component of any revolution.

Remember, Trump supporters are not die hard fans of Trump per se, they are themselves warriors ready take back their nation.  And I expect if push comes to shove, which apparently MoveOn.org is dead set on making happen, Trump supporters will respond in kind.  And so perhaps the violent revolution begins.  The unwavering wave of support against the establishment is not a light hearted movement.

And while a group of young, angry protestors, organized by those who will discard them without so much as a deep breath beforehand, appear steadfast they will soon find out what it means to be on the wrong side of right.  While they are rightly ready to fight, they are wrongly allowing themselves to be manipulated in believing their fight is with Trump.  For Trump and Sanders are the same movement anthropomorphized in different bodies.  And through Trump and Sanders the bloodshed need be directed at the oligarchs.

I’m not a proponent of violence but in a world that has become indifferent to the horrors of inhumanity after 15 years of continuous pre-planned illegal wars paid for by US dollars it is not outside my comfort zone either.  If the moment is upon us well so be it.  Let’s do what we must to drive the proverbial wooden stake into the black hearts of the sociopathic psychopaths that have transformed America into their own private golden goose of money and mercenaries.

But talk like this makes people nervous and the oligarchs count on the masses’ “better sense”.  That is, they have created a system that produces a perpetuity of ill gotten gains they then use to prevent any sort of uprising.  But they too have read the history books and so they understand the ancestral instinct to be free.   They therefore quietly pass laws that allow “dissident citizens” to be deemed threats to national security simply by uttering those words.  “You are a threat to national security”.

It appears the plutocrats themselves are awakening to their own limitations of omnipotence over the world.  Their ability to falsify the economic well being of the developed world has deteriorated so sharply so quickly that what was once a threat scenario theorized by The Council of Governors has become a reality, manifesting through the likes of Sanders and Trump. But revolts can be crushed and that is the strategy of MoveOn.org; simple and utter brutishness.

Recognizing the standard program of propaganda via main stream media attacks failed to sunder the sound of revolt it was time to ratchet up the defense of the oligarchs.  And so through MoveOn.org Soros et. al will corral those that depend on the state for survival and physically deploy them to disrupt the developing inertia of a larger movement.  From their perspective it is fighting (the) unrefined with (the) unrefined; that is, Sanders’ disciples against Trump’s disciples with the hope that they will destroy each other in grand revolution super nova, not soon to be forgotten by more moderate cattle.  Now where this will lead, who knows.  But certainly the early indications are not dissimilar to the early indications of some of the great epiphanic moments of human history.
