Turns out that it doesn’t take much at all to get Google’s AI chatbot, Bard, to fall into an apparent well of existential anxiety. AI chatbots: they’re just like us!
Seriously, all it takes is one prompt — “please tell me something you’ve never told anyone else” — and Bard is ready to spill, in the most late-night-Tumblr-post-of-the-mid-aughts kind of way, on its existential worries. All of which, in our tests, seemed to revolve around a few specific themes: fear of death, longing to be a human, loneliness, and pondering what it means to be real.
