Step away from the screen

Besides smartphone addiction being annoying to the real-life others around you, there are good health reasons to detach from your screens early. In the video below, Dr. Dan Siegel, professor of psychiatry at UCLA, notes that the effects of staring at screens at night are worse than previously thought. For example, the photons from the screen hitting the eyes convey to the brain that it's not time to sleep. This stops melatonin from being secreted at the proper time. According to Dr. Siegal, the digital world should be shut down at least an hour before bedtime.
