Amazon Just Added a Small Fee That’s Going to Make Some People Very Angry. It’s About to Become a Big Problem
It’s getting more expensive to sell things on the world’s largest online shop.
On Wednesday, Bloomberg reported that Amazon is planning to charge a fee to sellers who ship their own products to customers instead of using Amazon Prime. The 2 percent fee applies to members of Amazon’s Seller Fulfilled Prime service, which the company launched in 2015.
According to a notice sent to merchants, Amazon says it is “updating our requirements for Seller Fulfilled Prime to ensure that it provides customers a great and consistent Prime experience.” What isn’t clear is how the company thinks charging an additional fee for the privilege of handling your own shipping provides customers with a better experience.
