The Q1 2022 earnings season is now in its final stages. About 97% of the S&P 500 companies have reported their actual results so far (May 27). Of these, 77% of the companies posted a positive EPS surprise, and 73% reported a positive revenue surprise, according to the data from Factset. The blended earnings growth for the S&P 500 companies is 9.2%. If this holds till the end of the earnings season, it would be the lowest earnings growth rate reported by the index since Q4 2020 (3.8%).
