Federal and state governments are looking for ways to help people amid the rising gas prices. One city, however, has already implemented a program that offers stimulus money to residents to help them offset the rising gas prices. Chicago has already sent (or is sending) two rounds of gas cards, and now people have just days left to apply for the third round of Chicago gas stimulus checks. The last date to apply for the gas card is July 3.
Chicago Gas Stimulus Checks: Last Date Nearing
Chicago gas stimulus checks are part of the Chicago Moves program, which was announced by Mayor Lori Lightfoot in March. Under the program, 100,000 Chicagoans will receive $50 in prepaid transit cards and 50,000 drivers will get $150 in prepaid gas cards. Overall, the Chicago Moves program offers about $12.5 million in transport benefits.

“By subsidizing the cost of gas and transit, this program will enable participants to save their resources for other critical expenses,” Mayor Lightfoot said while announcing the program.
Mayor Lightfoot added that the program is a “huge step” toward making the city more accessible for residents, whether they travel by car or use public transit.
Applications for the Chicago Moves program opened on April 27, 2022. These cards will be distributed every month from May through September. There is a separate deadline for each month to apply for the gas card, and it is the first of May, June, July, August and September.
So, Chicago residents now have about ten days to apply for the July gas card. A point to note is that the deadline to apply for the transit card has already expired (June 3).
Who Can Apply And How To Apply?
To apply for the Chicago gas stimulus checks, applicants need to be a resident of the city and be at least 18 years old. Also, applicants must have a valid City sticker for their vehicle and their household income should be at or below 100% of the Area Median Income for Chicago. It must be noted that only one application per household can be made.
Applying for the Chicago Moves program is easy. Applicants can easily apply online by visiting http://www.Chicago.Gov/ChicagoMoves.
Applicants can also apply offline by sending their application to: ATTN: Dept. of Finance: Chicago Moves, 121 N. LaSalle St., 7th Floor, Chicago, IL 60602.
Also, applicants can visit any Chicago Public Library to apply for the Chicago gas stimulus checks.
A point to note is that applying for the program is no guarantee that the applicant will get a gas card. Rather, authorities will use the lottery system to select from the pool of applicants. The lottery will be conducted in the second week of each month.
Thus, it is very important to submit the application before the deadline. Though the deadline is the first day of that month, those sending their application in person or by mail should ensure that their application is received by the concerned authorities before the deadline.
