Why is it That Humans Have Trouble with Infinity – Just Look at the Federal Deficit!

Lance Winslow is trying to relate the abstract concept of infinity to something more tangible, something that might make him even feel something.  Here are his thoughts unfolding at the speed of, well, the federal deficit clock. – Ilene

Why is it That Humans Have Trouble with Infinity – Just Look at the Federal Deficit!

How big is infinity? If you’ve ever stopped to consider this, you know it might take a while, and even when you’re done, it doesn’t stop there – in fact, it never stops. So how do we comprehend such an incredible concept?

Sometimes it’s the simple things that give the human mind so much trouble. But nevertheless, I came up with a solution, one that will not take an act of Congress to deploy.

Have you ever seen the federal deficit clock? It never stops. Every couple of minutes it records another couple of million dollars spent by the federal government. Money that the federal government doesn’t already have. Maybe you’ve heard the old adage; "they are busy spending our children’s future," and that’s about right.

So if you keep an eye on the federal deficit clock there should be no problem with understanding infinity. And it doesn’t take an act of Congress to show the American people this concept. Rather, all it takes is all the "Acts" of Congress.

Now my question to you is; "how does that make you feel?"… perhaps we don’t need to learn the concept of infinity after all.
